Pretty big kick for 9 lbs, I suppose the explosive was triggered since all the impact was coming out of the window area. Did you see that car video yesterday at the Canadian and American entry bridge. A heck of a large explosion, the car was traveling at a very high rate of speed and in wet conditions. It was an explosion but of course the FBI says there was no explosives involved. ;0)

I saw that, but to me it looks like purely combustibles. Maybe a jerrycan of fuel or two in the trunk as well. Doesn't look like a proper (improvised) explosive from what I've seen.

Showed it to my dad and he said the same thing. He was a firefighter for 40+ years.

And a suicide attack on that kind of location using a firebomb really seems sub-optimal to me. Stuff the car with fireworks and nails and you've got a much more potent VBIED.

This happens all the time in the movies because the cars are prepped for it by removing safety measures, but it can happen in real life despite modern safety features. I've been told plenty of grizzly stories and the majority of them involved road traffic accidents often involving fire.

Regarding the window, that's possibly just the explosion seeking the path of least resistance.
