Here it is: A vessel that can both crush through the ice and dive beneath it when working on extraction of mineral resources from the Arctic seabed.

With its special bow and strengthened hull, the submarine is said to be able to navigate through 1,2 meter thick ice in surface position. The vessel will hold Arc5 ice-class according to Russian classification.
Malachite says on its site that the submarine is aimed at working safely beneath the ice without worrying about waves, wind or moving ice on the surface. Fields of operations include both oil and gas subsea installations as well as potential future extraction of other mineral resources to be mined from the Arctic sea floor.

The first trip in nearly 40 years by the Coast Guard cutter Polar Star, the nation's only heavy icebreaker, to the winter Arctic is the latest sign that the Coast Guard intends to have a greater presence in that region in the years to come.
The ship's commanding officer, in an interview following this winter's mission, said the 12-week deployment to the Bering Strait region helped the crew "better understand and prepare for the challenges of operating in such an unforgiving environment."
A group of Coast Guard Academy cadets will soon be a part of those efforts.
The Class of 2021 found out its post-graduation assignments Thursday night during the academy's annual billet night ceremony.

The city of Kemijärvi in Finnish Lapland turned down an offer made in January 2018 by China’s state-funded Polar Research Institute to buy or lease the city’s airport, after it informed the Finnish Armed Forces. But the matter is only now being made public.
According to the Finnish military, the airport is situated close to their strategically important firing range, so expansion would not have been possible. Moreover, such a proposal would be unrealistic given EU legislation from October 2020 restricting foreign investments.
China currently has research centres in the Arctic region in Greenland, Iceland, and the Svalbard archipelago.
One of the safest places for Soviet submarines was under the ice sheets of the Arctic, where they could be protected from NATO submarine hunters by friendly air and naval forces. Built with a reinforced hull, the Akula class was designed to smash through the ice and launch its missiles. Severstal conducted two missile launches in 1996—one in August and a second in November from the North Pole.

In Dudinka, the Rosgvardia special forces, together with the Chechen SOBR, are conducting exercises. Soldiers and officers are working out a special operation to neutralize a conditional bandit group. A video has spread on social networks: an air search assault group lands on the ice of the Yenisei and the berths of the Dudinsky seaport. The operation is complicated by 30-degree frost and wind. Exercises in extreme conditions make it possible to assess the training of the Rosgvardia special forces itself, and employees of territorial bodies, private security units, sea and aviation units of the Rosgvardia.

The emergence of new proliferated constellations offering commercial broadband could be the answer U.S. Northern Command needs to establish reliable Arctic communications.

The U.S. Air Force is teaming up with Hughes Network Systems and OneWeb to test how the latter’s new commercial broadband satellites could fill the military’s Arctic communications gap, the two companies announced May 5.
The businesses will work with the Air Force Research Lab to connect Arctic military bases to each other and the joint force via OneWeb’s growing low-Earth orbit satellite constellation. Hughes will serve as the prime contractor, leading adaptation, integration, testing and management for the demonstration. Intellian will provide user terminals that can connect to the OneWeb network.
The principle of openness to foreign media. For the first time, foreign journalists were shown the Russian military base "Arctic Trefoil" in Franz Josef Land. What is the secret to a successful mission in extreme latitudes?
