Are you sure about that? That'd be really strange. Surely, the everyman's right to self defence also applies to soldiers – not in their capacity as soldiers but as citizens? Maybe that general meant that soldiers may not use force to enforce the law? I mean, here in Germany for example, we do have very strict laws regarding the military lending aid to the civil power; soldiers may not be deployed domestically unless for purposes of disaster relief. But even the guys and gals sent to built dikes during a flood would be allowed to defend themselves if attacked.
I heard what the general said.
Some people who served in the Polish Army during communism said they fired warning shots if somebody crossed the border and were ordered to shoot at the people who didn't react to warning shots. Everything got fvcked up after Poland became a democratic country and our law didn't take a hybrid war into consideration.
All I know, the border fence is inside the Polish territory rather than right on the border. These scumbags need to cross the border to use sticks with fixed knives. Probably, due to a bullet power, if border guards wanted to shoot them, some shots would land in Belarus. You can still shoot a sling or throw a rock across the border being physically in Belarus, though.
Soldiers and border guards are harrassed by Polish activists as well. These scumbags come to the border from the Polish side and record Polish services' actions. The latter often deport the illegals to Belarus opening gates in the fence. The activists say these pushbacks are against the Polish and the EU law and they record videos, so the soldiers could get prosecuted by courts.
The activists use each and every excuse for the illegals to reach the EU. They say NATO destroyed Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Libya, so their inhabitants have the right to settle in the EU. If I say that Germany has nothing to do with the wars in Syria, Iraq and Libya, they say Germany still belongs to NATO lol
If I say that NATO has nothing to do with the political situation in Somalia, Ethiopia and Eritrea, they say that Westen companies exploit these countries and drain them from resources. Each and every excuse is good.
For a good start, the PM visited the border and said that a new law will be passed and all civilians will be forbidden to stay within 200m from the border on the Polish side
