I'm used to cold in winter, our houses construction are shite so we always wear lots of clothes inside, contrary to the poor germans who are used to central heating (a luxury by these shores) and can be at home just wearing a t -shirt

So i Guess i Will have to pay more because Germany decided long ago to be Russia's biatch, despite our gas coming from north africa
Germany catches a cold, so does the rest of the EU

You need a bit of Spaxit or Porkxit (Y)

Way thing are going and judging by how many they have printed you might be better off burning Euro's to keep warm this winter

The only thing that annoys me is ppl from northern europe thinking we have the same living standards and salaries that they enjoy

Not any more - everyone is taking a hit

Germany runs the EU for Germany and whist you are under their yoke you will never have prosperity - just somewhere for Jerman's to holiday on the cheap

I am always surprised when I visit Spain that there is not a lot more solar on the roof - although I must confess I look at the electricity pylons and go no - seems to be a real hotchpotch of infrastructure

I don't know why the EU (or even our own Gov) didn't do a moonshot investment in solar this year..... actually I do know, they are thick as pigs**t

If i wanted to install solar panels in my house i would have to pay a fortune and would only reach the break even after 10 years

Yeah? Have you checked our incomes also?
Yes.
Salaries in Central and Eastern Europe are lower comparing to Portugal and significantly lower comparing to Spain, while energy prices are much higher. On top of that, the average temperature is much lower, so you need a lot more energy to warm your house up.

End of abundance?

Abundance in taxes?
This tweet is a BS.
It's a Russia-related instability rather than a Ukraine-related one.

Which is why if the EU was serious about moving from fossil fuels they could have bought them for you and you lease them based on the charge they provide you. It would give the EU huge energy independence which apparently is a major goal of theirs.
You potentially get cheaper more secure energy and they achieve their "stated" aims. But because they hate us they would never do that :)

This is going to be hard. But maybe it will be the push to move on to much better energz sources in the future. I was hearing this developer built an office building right in the Paris suburbs that relies essentially on geothermal energy.

So maybe there is something there, and not automatically if you live next to an active volcano.

We might bless what is happening right now as the moment we made a giant leap forward.

Origine was designed using a demanding environmental approach which includes geothermal energy, connection to urban heating networks, integrated photovoltaic panels, natural light, green roofs, rainwater collection systems, etc. In addition to these initiatives, a smart electricity grid will manage energy storage and distribution. This grid will also provide users with a wide range of information and services they can access from their smartphones. Origine is truly part of the next generation of smart buildings.

If I understand correctly, you are a believer in solar energy.

So am I but don' t you live in Ireland? Why do I feel that if half Ireland was under solar panels, it could only power 2 or 3 kettles (between 11 am and 2 pm).:D

I thought Ireland's plan was grow billions of potatoes - turn them into Wodka and burn it to keep warm

Or was that a couple of 100 years ago

While Ukraine is struggling to regain control of Europe's largest nuclear power plant, a new buffoonery has emerged with regards to the German utility sector: The spanking-new Moorburg coal-fired power station in Hamburg was shut down last year after running for only six years because of emission reductions and whatnot. Now, however, as natural gas and energy in general is a luxury and the return of coal-generated electricity is actively being considered in Germany, it turned out that Moorburg could not be reactivated on short notice. The empty coal bunkers are not the problem. However, the main transformer has already been sold off and was apparently removed from the plant. *legacy hammer-bashing smiley*

I don't fear 5 Pakistani Kids. Have kids myself Most people bothered about Europe don't have kids.

What must be done is to avoid illegals staying Here and Not working. Or one working 12 Family members sre fed by social Security.

In my kids classes there are several foreigners. The Pakistani Kids will Most probably have a lower education until maybe their Kids See the importance of leaving backwardness and Join the enlightened Western World.

Nah solar works quite well here, there's long days and modern solar is more than efficient enough.
I have some friends that installed it small scale, liked it and went with bigger setups.
Energy is expensive here, even so solar is still takes years to pay off. It's the energy independence and alternates (in case of catastrophe) that people want
