But what does it mean fooled? Was she looking at alternative news sites after being sickened and disillusioned by the MSM for years, whose fault is that, you can hardly blame her? If the MSM has lost legitimacy in US (as most countries now) people will look elsewhere.
There was massive "not my president / this is my pussy" riots / protest after Trump victory... seems hysteria is rampant.
Any word from BLM on the deaths, was it *really* necessary to shoot the unarmed woman?
Was anyone choked / tasered / restrained and subsequently died?

The "whatboutism" is really not helping. We can go on a century with these things. We are in the present at each moment of our lives, with the capacity to choose.

Mrs Babbitt was fooled IMO in that she did not consider reading up on what the 62 court cases were about, what was the motivation behind the decision, the double decision of the SCOTUS, and did not even pay attention to the rebuttal of newsmax two weeks ago on many conspiracy theories.

I have mixed feelings about all this. On a purely selfish level, as an Israeli, I'm disappointed to see Trump go. His shrewd and ... just sane - for the lack of a better word - foreign policy will surely be missed. Only God knows where we are heading with the new admin regarding Iran and China... On the other hand, I'm happy for our American friends this horrible mess of elections is finally over.

Precisely. Well put, I won’t rehash the few things where he’s screwed up, but on foreign policy at least he did most everything right.

Just to remind that police officers too were hurt yesterday

At least 14 officers were also wounded during the demonstrations, according to authorities. Two officers were hospitalized, including one who sustained serious injuries after he was pulled into a crowd and assaulted, police said.

Imagine being this naive.

* Completely screwed his Iran policy by tearing apart an effective nuclear agreement and nearly started a war. Now Iran is enriching uranium up to levels (20 %) not seen in the post-JCPOA era, while the overall security in the Middle East has significantly deteriorated.

* North Korea which has increased its nuclear stockpile under the Trump administration and continues to defy efforts to de-nuclearize.

* Formulated a failed transactional foreign policy which pushed off traditional US allies while praising all kinds of dictators around the world.

You won't find any diplomatic success other than normalizing agreements between Israel and a bunch of tiny states in the ME, which already had covert relations with each other before these agreements popped up.

yup , this is what trump supporter doesn't understand , his policy long term affect America , that why china and Russia support trump lol short term it may hurt they economy and other thing , but in long run it hurt America the most , America foreign policy have screw up big time under trump , made allied and partner in asia lost trust in America generally even if biden win those trust wont come back , America power have weaken extremely under trump and he deal a huge blow to America in general . ( biggest fubar in my view are the TPP , beside withdrew from iran nuclear deal )

Trump's diplomatic prowess aside, from my pov all of these 3 things are what I'd describe as: fighting a losing battle.

- Iran will eventually get nukes. You can play around with agreements to stall/postpone the process. But the nation won't change its long-term course. The only thing that could prevent this from happening would have to be either a coup d'etat or a massive war that would send Iran into the stone age.

- North Korea won't get rid of its nukes. Countries don't do that. That's about as easy as asking a country to stop calling itself "a country". The only way NK can stop posing a nuclear threat is if NK disappears as a sovereign state, either by being absorbed or by being destroyed.

- USA's traditional allies are leaving because of money. Singing ballads about democracy and about dictatorships works for as long as the audience has food on the table. Once the food is gone, they'll go to a different restaurant.
The post-ww2 economic miracle is gone. The market is depleted.

The most widespread and destructive riots of the last 50 years literally occurred over the summer. The media called them "mostly peaceful," politicians catered to their demands, and barely anyone was charged for it. This is the consequence of normalizing political violence.

It is nonetheless alarming what is happening in the US.

Exactly.

It would be the understatement of the century to state that the Trump administration has caused enormous damage to US standing and prestige. Survey after survey shows nearly every country in the world, including those with whom it holds alliances, to have lost trust in the United States. Up to such extent that the calls for strategic autonomy are increasingly making inroads in Europe. How anyone could argue that this somehow a positive development, while the United States is on the verge of a global supremacy struggle with China, is beyond me.

I grew up international relations circles, and the amount of soft power damage Trump has inflicted upon his nation, even among its friends, is just staggering.

Trump is biggest gift china and Russia ever could wish for , America will be licking it wound in it cave for a decade while in a new cold war 2.0

I'm sorry but I don't buy this everything was great then trump came along narrative . By that logic when biden starts his presidency everything will go back to normal ? You have to question what made people vote for trump in the first place and if bidens cabinet is anything to go by those grievances are not going to go away . Obama was a protest vote back in 2008 but he chose to go along with the establishment ( bailouts , mass evictions etc) hence why we ended up with trump . Now bidens in charge with a near 20 million families at risk of eviction . If biden chooses to go the Obama route then the US s international standing will be the least of its worries .

Very sad to see that my worries were confirmed and lives were lost in DC yesterday.

Very sad day for western democracies too. As far as I can see, the biggest one finally fell inside China's pocket, and so far in the last 80 years once in, nobody has been able to get out.

I feel that more kinetic actions are coming and more lives will be lost. US as a nation is broken, and there will be no way to avoid heavy bloodshed and violence unless the nation splits. May be Texas seceding will become trending in the next few days.

Yesterday I sadly realized that I will see the capitol burning down during my lifetime. US is just a broken toy at this moment, its soul has been damaged so hard, that if it was ever to revitalize, it would be only through lots of suffering and bloodshed. Same as every other nation in history who has part of its population reaching such a level of hate, nihilism & self destruction. Believe me I know what Im talking about, after all it has been Spanish favourite recurrent historic passtime with 5 civil wars in the last 200 years. Sadly all the signs are there.

Hope all of you guys stay safe, no matter where you are geographically and politically speaking. Hope we can keep this thread civil.
Thanks to the mods for their actions in preventing this turning into a balcan poop flinging contest, specially when the passions are running so high and the blood is gettin so hot.

Indeed. The US as a country, as a system, is and was broken for many years.

In ancient times people performed sacrificial rituals, festively slaughtering an animal of choice, in hopes that all of their sins and bitter feelings will go away with the death of one lamb. People haven't changed much since those times. The sacrificial instinct is still there. Today Trump's on the altar, tomorrow someone else.
Or maybe Trump will transform into this icon of perpetual sin. So that everytime Biden and his buddies screw up, they'll just say "it's all Trump's legacy, he ruined everything." and the masses will eat it up, just as well as they ate up the Russiagate story with a big big spoon.
