Politics The 2020 American Presidential Election

Did they? As I had understood it, the issue was that they refused to even accept the case, which is a legal gap in America's judicial system. American courts, SCOTUS in particular, are often reluctant to hear cases that are brought forward. How can SCOTUS dispense a ruling and thus "confirm" the election if they won't even accept to hear the case?

Your point of them being conservatives is pretty much irrelevant since American judges are historically loathe to insert themselves in the electoral process one way or another even if the constitution endows them with that right and duty.

Telmar has very simplistic views and understanding of the US constitutional apparatus.

They did hear the Trump complaints. But for 62 cases, less than five were about fraud. Which should generate some interest since the "Trump media" (dixit the man himself) was only talking about fraud.

But in front of courts, they never did complain for fraud. It was kabuki theater.

SCOTUS, in the tradition of the USA does not like to interfere in State decisions.

I understand people are dissapointed, and with conservatives nothing is fair. I was dissapointed in France when Sarkozy lost to Hollande in the midst of a smearing campaign. It made me loathe Hollande. Sarkozy behaved with class and dignity, and did not pour gasoline on the fire of dissapointment.

I had to put Morris on a temp-ban because of his nonsense and insulting posts as of the last pages of this thread.

I am leaving him a few weeks off so that he gets his head out of his ass and come back as we used to all like him. Please carry on the rest of you gents.

Nobody other than yourself has said we used to all like him.

Pointless argument and comparison.

Even though we consider the Russian collusion stuff, and all the accusations thrown at Trump for the past 4 years, were allegations and claims they nevertheless triggered investigations.
No matter they were completely fabricated hoaxes with no fundamental merit or basic standing.
Or, even more absurd, the Kavanaugh rape allegations. Unsubstantiated, uncorroborated, unsupported. And yet! Yet "we must believe the accuser!" and "the accused must submit himself to the inquisition!". One person made a claim. One! Only one. And everybody come running alongside her.

Yet, these "what if" got treated seriously. After all, if a claim is made it should be looked into?

These are the precedents, among countless others, that were set.

And yet, here we are. Countless affidavits, witnesses, evidence, corroborated testimonies, hours of hearings, etc... private citizens coming forward, political figures supporting the case, lawyers, legislators, constitutionalists pleading.
But, for some reasons, it does not meet the threshold. For some reason it is summarize as "Trump's ego".

Same goes with comparisons that ought not to be made to begin with: French elections vs US elections.
Two very different systems with one much more complicated than the other.

No problem @Penny

To try to get this back on topic:

Congress certifies Joe Biden as president.

Now onto his official inauguration which probably won’t take place as usual with a crowd in DC because Covid.

Relatives of 3million filipinos in the US are probably flooding the lines right now making sure that, its not one of their aunt, sisters, mom in the pict.

That being said, Trump's political career and life is virtually over now.

Even if the electoral votes end up going his way, there is no way he could expect to reunite the country after this.
Not that the Dems were interested in reunification either anyway, as we have seen for the past 4 years and then following Biden's election.
Almost got me to agree with you there slick... but honestly I think Trump has a strong following so he might not be as dead politically as one would expect. The damage would be mainly on the GOP as the images of that attack is gonna be with them for some time.

Pence action and stand, makes me think he was the under dog that should have been the new president.

Trump himself, may not run again, but I would expect his Daughter, or Jared, maybe with Pence.

I doubt we have heard the last from this family.

And really it depends on what Biden does, either he will now sleep for 4 years, or maybe not.

Lets get back in 4 years and see.

Also like all the ex-communist experts sharing their thoughts, and trying to out-butthurt each other. Must have been fun in commie land!

So basically after the attack, the Senators who objected on the Georgia electoral vote, withdrew and thereby allowing the declaration of Biden as winner to continue. That action back fired and even alienated a lot of the conservatives.

Congress certified Biden and Trump announced the transition will happen.

Politically Trump is finished.
The Dems, having the majority in both Houses, will go after him with everything they have.

As a private citizen and investor? I am not sure Trump will fare better. These last events will likely have a huge impact on his name and legacy.

His children running for office? They may try, but they won't get far if anywhere.

Tough S**t going down when I have to agree with Muck and Telmar?

If I was a Seppo I would have voted for Trump, twice! Well yesterday‘s events proved me wrong. IMHO the only place where he belongs to is Leavenworth.

trump really try to made a lot of havoc befor leaving the office lol :) so biden will have to clean up his mess :) ruin relation with most of American allied partner , divide the American society , made America look stupid on world stage , trump was the best thing china and Russia ever wanted lol , short term it hurt them , but in long term it hurt America more , trump have deal a huge blow to America prestige in the world stage
