So the basic plan seems to be for the US and China to introduce trade embargoes essentially on one another....interesting strategies here.

Then the EU will be paying a tariff rate that makes up for VAT and any other fees hidden or not.
VAT is closer to your US sales tax than anything else.

I told you guys to BUY last week. Although I never want to give financial advice.

Last time you posted how stocks are green from a grifter, in the end the day went negative. Too lazy to find the post

Anyway on this news, very welcome, but for the love of god; The tariffs went into place last week, in order to bring jobs back into the US and make a better deal. Now the admin sees that they are tanking the economy and even t-bills aren't a safe heaven so they are forced to pause.

Didnt trump say this week that the tariffs will stay in place. And now they are halting them. You think that business are able to start building manufacturing in the US due to these, on and off tariffs? Business loves unpredictability.. Trump admin is panicking, mostly my guess due to t-bills.

Not nice language but this is how it looks.

You don't see the big scheme. So much going on behind the scenes we don't know about. That's what everyone has voted for, right? RIGHT? 🙃

I think the thing is dead now. Discussions will be led by grown ups who can add.

Still keeping 10% baseline and auto tariffs.

Surely this isn't another case of anchoring or demanding outrageous things to then get people to agree on more reasonable 10%?

Ha! Now she credits Trump with mind control.
Seems more like she's saying that Trump fans are people without an opinion of their own who rely on Dear Leader to tell them what to think which, with such a volatile leader, becomes like a rampaging bipolar herd.

Merely paraphrasing her of course 😇

I think there is always something to talk about...but Trump found out that people just don´t just get into line because he says so. Not even in the USA where the MAGA movement really lost a lot of pieces: Shapiro, Musk...

0% free trade between the US and the EU is good, but as usual the devil is in the details with regulation, health norms, subsidies and intellectual propriety ...that is where the biggest issue is

Getting back to VAT - my Hungarian friend said it's very similar to sales tax. (27% VAT in Hungary, he said) For comparison, Nebraska has 7% sales tax on everything but food which isn't taxed. I live close to the Wyoming border, and on the weekend, it's a done deal grocery store parking lots will be stuffed with Wyoming cars dodging Wyo sales tax on groceries.

Big issue for shops near the border. Although for food the VAT rate is always low: 5,5% in Slovakia vs 23% on other goods. There is a lot of "fuel tourism" between Slovakia and Poland because taxes on fuel are lower up north.

That was Monday. They shot up and went negative by the end of the day. That would have been a good time to buy as well.
