When I said Iran, I was intentionally implying a war that would turn the world on its head.
Venezuela and Syria are regional conflicts. War with Iran would be a completely different beast.
The reason I mentioned it comes down to 1. Pompeo's sudden fixation on Al Qaeda and Iran (which really came out of the blue suddenly), 2. recent news about Iran ramping up uranium enrichment, and 3. the basic principle well known in IR studies, that whenever a large empire undergoes a painful internal crisis or begins collapsing, it always lights conflicts abroad to keep itself afloat.

Let's hope that won't happen.
