Politics Gun laws and news around the world

New Jersey just opened up gun stores and they have been deemed essential:

Gun shops are now considered essential businesses in N.J., Gov. Murphy says
Gun retailers in New Jersey can now open as an essential business during the coronavirus outbreak, Gov. Phil Murphy announced Monday in a reversal of his previous position on this issue.

Murphy’s decision to deem firearm dealers an essential business follows guidelines issued by the federal Department of Homeland Security, which added gun dealers, ranges and manufacturers to its list of essential business guide for its coronavirus response on Saturday.

Ha! They knew their asses will get sued.

NRA Is suing The State of California ..I heard Jericho Green say in his video

Due to the mass shooting yesterday, all so called assault weapons are going to banned in Canada.

Basically everything from the Type 97 to the SKS are going to be banned and you’ll have to comply or else the horse commandos will raid you.

Canadians will be lucky to have any semi-auto firearms at all.

Additionally, some Canucks I have been talking to are saying the Pope of Feminism wants gun owners to renew their licenses every month. Thought personally, I think that’s just hysterics.

So what Trudeau is really saying is we drafted the legislation ready to go and we just needed an excuse

And if its like the same as what happened here it will be predictable police/nanny state overreaction. Browning Bar banned on obvious example.

They will say hunters don't use them. When they do.
Russians? Nearly every hunting video includes 7.62 x 39 fired semi-automatically on anything.

When do we exceed East Germany?

Its suprising how compliant NZ has been with harshest regime. No funeral attendance for anyone, eat in the park or surf individually and you'll get arrested and they do. Outdoors activity improves health , well being and lowers risk due to dissipation. The public is completely unquestioning as it is with gun things.

Our leaders have been sprung bike riding , fishing from a shoreline and canoeing. They know its BS.

Here's a good info dump on upcoming Canadian gun bans:
Here comes an infodump. I’m going to lay out what we know about the ban so far, with media and government sources, and give my take on what I think is coming down the pike.
“in general, assault weapons are semiautomatic firearms with a large magazine of ammunition that were designed and configured for rapid fire.”
In the United States, both federally and at the state level, this definition is interpreted as a firearm sporting defined characteristics, such as pistol grips and collapsible stocks, which are considered to be the deciding factor in whether a firearm is “configured” or “designed” for rapid fire. I suspect that these characteristics are what are being referred to in the first bullet point, above.
Blair: I’ve also seen your (the CCFR) statements that very broadly includes all semi-automatic rifles. That’s not what we’ve said.
Further, an MP from Yellowknife told the media that although they had not, at the time, settled on their legal definition of an assault weapon, semi-automatic rimfires and shotguns will not be included.
This whole novel I just wrote in mind, it’s my conclusion and prediction that we’re going to see a ban similar to the 1994 American federal Assault Weapons Ban. That is to say, tactical-looking semiautomatic rifles, but not all semiautomatic rifles.

No wonder they were tight lipped about this incident.
What a shitstorm in Nova Scotia. This guy was not a legal firearm owner, the "emergency alert network" failed as this guy drove around the boonies killing people dressed like a cop complete with fake cop car. I think they're up to 23 victims dead now and the government's answer is to ban guns. In other words, disarm the very people who need weapons to protect themselves from monsters like this. Because as we all know, the bad guys will always have guns. I have yet to read a description of the weapon(s) which makes me think it's not an AR-15. That would have been the first words out of the cop's mouth otherwise.

Supreme Court dismisses NYSRA vs. New York City on account of being moot.

Disappointed because now all states/cuties have to do is change the law while the case is still in limbo and then they could change it back whenever they wish.

Good job Roberts and Kavanaugh, we could always count on you guys being spineless compared to the liberal wing of the court.

Ten 2A cases have been added to the Supreme Court conference for 5/1 just today.

Maybe they wanted to get rid of the moot case before actually taking a look at the other cases? Either way, no trust nor confidence in either Roberts nor Kananaugh.

They are actually more relaxed than ones in NYC minus self-defense and mag size.

Canada is going to ban new sales of specific model centerfire semi-autos and rifles that exceed 10,000 FPS by executive action and not by their parliament.

Notice how the Chinese T97 and Type 81 rifles are not on the list. Also SKS is safe for now.

Also no one is happy with this:

If enacted, the bans would be imposed through an order-in-council — a cabinet decree — not legislation, sources said. Parliament's attention is entirely on the pandemic right now. The government could still introduce gun control legislation down the line when the current limits on parliamentary work are lifted.

That order in council. Well our local so-called gun rights protectors actually supported that idea. They thought it would be fair and democratic.

So Canada went ahead with their ban by executive action and not by legislation by Parliament.

Oh and the First Nations are excluded from the ban list meaning they can still acquire the scary black rifles after the two year amnesty.

Interesting given how many of Canada's illegal firearms pass through First Nation territory straddling the border of the United States and Canada.

And of course the ban was ordered after the last and worst shooting spree in Canada in decades...

NZ, Canada. It only takes one moron to decide to kill a bunch of people regardless of the motive to further push for restrictive laws.

Canada's ban list:
Okay, who came up with this list?
-There are RPGs, ATGMs, and even a Russian 45mm anti-tank gun on there! What!?
-Even UK legal firearms are not safe like ARs chambered in .22 or .50 bolt action rifles.
-Curiously, some Canadian made AR pattern rifles like the Kodiak Defense WK180-C are fine while other Kodiak Defense products are banned by name. Maybe AR pattern rifles that are considered as non-restricted and made in Canada are not on the chopping block?
-Non-AR pattern rifles are largely safe. Meaning popular firearms in Canada like the SKS, T97, Kriss Vector, Tavor, Valmet, M1 Garand, are safe. Hell even rifles that are close but not quite AR pattern are okay like the SCAR or the SU-16.
