The new German government has just declared a "state of emergency" under Article 72 TFEU and suspended Germany's participation in the Treaties of Dublin and Schengen. (Source)

Per EU protocols, Germany now has to inform all ambassadors of EU countries. After that is done, all travellers without a right to residence in Germany (i.e. German citizens, legal permanent residents and EU citizens) can be denied entry.

The matter will go to trial.

And you're overly optimistic to think a lot of spying could've been done by a German government agency over the course of five days. An agency that isn't even a "spy agency" to begin with, despite being labelled as such. BfV collects information mostly through open-source intelligence and informers willing to talk to them.

The advisory report on which the labelling as extremist was predicated has not been released yet, but going by what's been leaked so far, seems to be entirely based on statements made by AfD politicians in public (including social media).

The Scholz administration releasing only the tenor of that report is unacceptable and weird (it's counter-productive even from their point of view). If you care for my opinion, I think the Social Democrats released that report the day before the elevation of Merz to Chancellorship to ensure he couldn't cooperate with them in parliament. The timing was conspicuous.

Five days "officially".

But frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if they started before that.

Talks about sanctioning the AfD are years old. I wonder if that wasn't in the tube while Merkel was there.

From a German's perspective, that's just unrealistic and needs no entertaining. Fear of the Stasi and Gestapo have left their marks on our legislation, all intelligence agencies are regulated to hell and back. No fewer than seven different watchdogs control their every move. And they have to be so transparent about it, you can actually look up in the Federal Diet's files how many people were spied on by our intelligence agencies over the past six-month period.

Former service chiefs have been demanding reforms for years.

@Chazman

The dossier labelling AfD an extremist organisation has been leaked in the meantime. I've taken the trouble of going through the juicy parts, and I must concede: It's not a good look for the BfV.

As a legal practitioner, I must call a spade a spade: The agency has failed to substantiate its allegations.

The dossier is mostly a collection of statements from higher-ups made in a public or semi-public environment. Some are disgusting and merit prosecution under the laws of this country (Holocaust denial, calls to commit genocide, death threats). The majority of them, however, though they may constitute dog-whistling or be designed to rile up hate, are still protected speech.

But the biggest problem with the dossier is this: Even though the findings do warrant (and rightly so) prosecuting a number of people, the agency utterly fails to show why the entire party should be treated as an extremist organisation just because of those people. I mean, what's the threshold here? Ten percent extremists to doom the party? Thirty percent (which I'd say is true)?

Not a good look at all. I'd be very surprised if this dossier should stand in the Constitutional Court.

A German chancellor proclaims that the German army will be the strongest in Europe.

How times change ...

This is good, but unfortunately the hurdle isn't that high these days. And they are already n. 2 in the EU ;)

Should aim for third in the world.

Appreciate the banter as well… but even f*cking egghead scum Prigojihn admitted Ukraine army fought beyond bravely in Bakhmut and made so called powerful Russkia soldiers shyte their pants.

Ukrainians being well known patriots and tough fellas and warriors.

What has he proposed?
Good question. Some German media suggest that Merz offered financial support for the upkeep of Poland's borders, an idea which Tusk welcomed in principle, but rejected for reasons of bad timing. It seems he was worried that making any form of "concession" towards Germany would damage Trzaskowski's chances in the presidential race.

Who knows if that's true.

Britain and Germany are working together to develop strike missiles, their defence ministers said on Thursday, as Russia’s war rages in Ukraine and European powers seek to reduce dependence on US weapons.

“We together will begin co-leading the development of a new European-developed deep precision strike capability with a range of 2000 plus kilometres,” Britain’s John Healey said at a bilateral meeting in Berlin.

Germany’s Boris Pistorius said work on the missiles had begun and would be critical for European security.

“The current threat situation makes it absolutely clear that we need to close all capability gaps,” Pistorius said. “And we need to do that as quickly as possible.”

Europe’s governments have looked to establish more independence from US military technology amid doubts about Washington’s future commitment to Europe’s security.

From left hate anything US Trump press
Explain this how the two have been polar opposite on missile supply to Ukraine. Can they have a contract that overides political elections.

If that's a reference to the last line of that quote, well … Merz himself, once very pro-American, has said he doesn't trust Trump.

Nevermind the fact the new government wants to supply the Ukrainians with cruise missiles, I fail to see the relevance here. That new weapon isn't going to be exported to anyone anytime soon.

There already is. It's called the Trinity House Agreement.

SECTION 7
Settlement of Disputes
Any dispute concerning the interpretation or application of the present Agreement will be
settled through negotiation between the Participants, through diplomatic channels.
They thought to write it in. Atleast they consider the possibility.

What's so surprising about that? Every international treaty includes some form of arbitration clause (unless an overarching organisation with arbitration powers exists).

Just FYI, there are two major police unions in Germany. The German Police Union DPolG leans to the right, the rival Union of Police Officers GdP leans to the left. Everything said by GdP officials about topics like border security should be taken with a grain of salt. Personally, I've yet to see compelling reasons to believe their bitching. Permanent border controls were reestablished over a year ago, and they've just received more personnel to run them.

Judgement Day will be absolutely unforgiving to those who allowed this. The Lord is recording EVERYTHING....
