Politics BLM protests across the US

Yep. Court ordered desegregation.

Am still kind of confused - I know I'm off on a tangent to the thread but that's not segregation in a legal point of view, right? It's more geographic (If that makes sense)? Black kids in black areas went to black schools and white kids in white areas went to white schools but at some point, the government made an effort to mix them up? It wasn't a law saying black kids ad white kids can't go to school togehter? But at some point, the government made an effort to mix them up?

^---- Yes.... Whether due to old redlining tactics or the unintended side effects of "white flight" to the suburbs, the people remaining or filling in the urban or working class areas were often minorities. What this meant is that the schools in those areas became less white and often underfunded. Over time, the large school districts tried to reintegrate the school populations by daily busing of students from the suburbs into schools in the city centers, and vice versa. Ironically, some of the Northern cities' populations (you know, the RIGHT side of the Civil War) were most resistant to integration than cities in the South (the EVIL side, former Confederate states)......

Yup, you got it.

OK - thanks for the answers everyone - explained a lot.

So back to the initial thing - Biden legitimately said that?

Busing. A misguided liberal plan to take kids from their homes and bus them many miles away to different areas to ensure everyone got an equal education. It was a disaster which ended up hurting kids and public schools.

It (still) is, with some painful political discussion at times. I believe that the topic needs to be discussed, and most replies are (mostly) fine so far, considering such a topic despite some complaints we have gotten.

We will see where this goes; probably until Chauvin’s trial. Personally I wouldn’t really want it to become some megathread about any Joe that got killed at the hands of police officer, but unfortunately it’s too important a topic to be completely ignored.
I'm personally very impressed with both the open nature of conversation, and the grown up behaviour of virtually all members. Sometimes its clear when others don't agree with me as an example, but usually they try to explain their position, and try to understand mine. I'm not seeing any issues. I'm fine with Robby or whatever his name is being deleted. There are photos aplenty if you take a look - please take a look. If you don't want to look at this thread, should also be fine.

Yes.

...Which is what Bombardier and The Team ™️ have been advocating for a while, those who can’t follow those easy rules fall under the Banhammer; which we very rarely have to use, for the better and never without a formal reminder/warning before.

I remember reading that the French were doing it or still try to do it, as they were trying to insert white French kids into low quality schools that had a majority of Arab kids. Needless to say, most parents hated it.

did protesters beat someone to death at a Winston Churchill statue in the UK?
