He was being brought in for a misdeanor. Nothing justifies nine minutes of choking him, he did' nt die because he was restrained...You' d think by the actions of the police that he had just stabbed someone..

As I said above, Floyd did not deserve to be killed.
On the other hand, it looks like Chauvin tried to stand up for his famous name. His life in jail will not be easy.

Cause of death ha been ruled as cardiopulmonary arrest.

He also was tested positive for covid 19 in April but did not develop symptoms.

Blunt force injuries were found on his face, shoulders, arms, hands and legs.

Also should point out that normally passing a counterfeit is a crime, irrespective of you knowing its counterfeit.

Normally being in possession or passing one, the banknote is seized. Police then check if you are making them, or have a wallet full.

Neither comes with a death sentence.

And I would have an expectation that cops in restraining someone have a policy, i.e. once cuffed, and now not resisting, sit them up, wait for paddy wagon, engage with suspect, calm him down etc. The point I'm trying to make, is that its a normal part of their day to control and restrain people, therefore they should be good at it.

It also appears that perhaps Chauvin a Floyd had a history. They worked together 17 years ago. It's not hard to imagine that they were in on something, together.

There' s a lot of insanity out there, I don' t understand people in other countries protesting or kneeling or lying down, or even changing their picture on FB...What happens in the USA is interesting, but it is also about Americans.

Many people follow what is happening in US through twitter and youtube, more than local events and discussion. (naturally, as the local media output is very limited)

You can bet that if some political issue is being talked about in the US, someone will be talking about here as a local matter. Within a day or two. And they will be using the English term at that point because a term in Finnish doesn't yet exist.

For example cultural appropriation; it became widely discussed matter on youtube and on twitter in the US. So some time later YLE (Finnish BBC equivalent) cancelled a popular show for kids which included character wearing Indi...native American headdress and a popular comedian apologized, for making a sketch of Sami (Native Finnican), 30 years ago.

Damn it, I thought you guys were the only rational ones left.

It's Helsinki. Greenest city in the country, heated with coal.

It sounds ridiculous, I agree. But part of me can't think that some kind of massive reform of the police might help in the long run but I'm basing that solely on it working in the Northern Ireland peace process where the Royal Ulster Constabulary - hated and not trusted by the Republican/Catholic population - was disbanded and replaced by the new Police Service of Northern Ireland.

Clearly, some type of reform is necessary. If this neck restraint was SOP? Good Lord. Best not to throw the baby out with the bath water though. Nor does burning down the city and murdering police officers help the process.
