Dick Johnson and Larry Perkins saved touring car racing here, the next 3 decades of V8 Supercars were phenomenal for the sport.

Nothing worse seeing a good car left to rot

When we actually do something right... to bad teh company went bankrupt and Toyota told them not to sell it to locals but for government and international markets only.
The Delta Mini Cruiser... FJ40 "fun sized"

Son had a windscreen replaced under insurance. The thing was cracking after small road chips hitting it. After they took out the windscreen rust was discovered. This is a three year old Toyota Hilux. Two panel beaters have said its not common but also not unusual with Toyota. Holdens are as bad if not shade worse apparently. Both made in Thailand
You'd think they would ensure the same painting system was used in their new factories. This is made in Japan 1970's type of rust.
Very disappointing.

Wise thing is to buy 5 years or more after they have outsourced to a new factory/workforce.

Good job. If it had all difflock, presume it has.. that would have done really well here. Philippines seemed to be way ahead of the rest in SE Asia
You guys have a lot of respect as hard workers.

Well we were ahead coming into the 80's and we did our best to screw everything up and make sure we are behind the rest. From almost being the first guys with a Nuclear power plant in South East Asia to MLRS we decided to drop everything...

In lockdown I've been watching this guys youtube channel:

as he restores to running condition a bunch of old BMW's, some of which haven't been switched on for 10 to 15 years.

Unlike a lot of youtube vehicle channels he know how to make his entertaining and where to speed things up.

Over the last 10 years I've been keeping 2 "project" cars on the road.

First is this 1993 Accord that I bought for my oldest daughter to drive for college. It was pretty sad looking with oxidized paint, rusty hood, rusty 14" wheels with skinny tires. On the plus side, it ran (sort of) and the interior was absolutely mint. I replaced nearly everything under the hood (including, eventually, the engine, after my daughter Chernobl'd it with no coolant  ). It's not half bad for a college kid (actually, it's now on it's 2nd college kid).

Then there's my work truck. I wanted something that could carry a lot of gear, that I could "have fun with", and that I wouldn't worry about scuffing up a bit. Found it on Craigslist in early 2009, paid $2400 and it was...rough. It was a bone stock cargo van, like an empty tin can on wheels. The previous owner was a young guy who used it to carry his motocross bikes. In addition to the terrible $250 Maaco black paint job, he had taped over the lights with electrical tape to "make it look cool". Mrs_Jackson burst out laughing when she first saw it, and I knew it was the right vehicle.
The list of badly planned and poorly executed repairs and mods I've done is too long to mention. Even though my bosses hate it, I've been all over the country with it, several times...all at 52 cents a mile, thank you very much haha! With 349k miles on the clock, it's obviously being sustained by it's own inherent evil. A waitress in rural Tennessee nicknamed it "Ol' Rapey" which seems fitting. I have indeed had a lot of fun in this idiotic vehicle.

Wonder how I can import that bed from Australia, those trays are an Aussie thing...
Hilux_1.jpg

... definitely not hand carried.

Oh @digrar, researched why the DPF seems to be an Aussie issue, the Hiluxes outsie Australia doesnt have DPFs lol.

Aston Martin are in serious trouble 500 staff have been laid off and the CEO has been sacked

No surprising really .. they tried to turn an iconic marque into a fashion brand by jumping on the Boat Market and putting their name's to Flats .. development advertised in Boat Internation .. www.astonmartinapartments.com guess the flats never sold out

I saw a meme for Drive in movies and I was thinking, maybe now is the time to bring it up. With the advent of blue tooth and the sound system of most cars being better than some theaters, maybe its time to bring it back as a solution to enjoying the movies while social distancing.

The local cinema has set up a pop up drive in at the local show grounds. Another local town regularly screens movies using the town's wheat silos as a screen.

As for your ute tray, I have no idea about the frequency of shipping from here to there, and going by the Aus $14K build price, I'd be ripping the best pics I could from their site and taking it to the best local fabricator I could find and say build me one of these please.

Yeah there is one in Clark thats offers a full dive in experience. I think with blue tooth and this distancing thing, the drive in movies has a good chance of making a come back. Though over here we would have to peel off our goon tints on the windshields to see it properly

Idea level: Asian

Yeah well i would go for an exact copy, but maybe use it as design inspiration. We have a metal fabricator down south that could make a 70 series that rolled overlook like brand new.

That ARB catalog is like my playboy in the bath room, if not for this god damned pandemic and me losing more than half my pay that ute would be upgraded by now.
