Yes. One theory is that the Democrats never believed Trump would release the transcript of the phone call with Zelensky. No President has ever done that. That left the Democrats free to concoct their own version of the call. That really challenges any sentient creature to believe it was actually their plan, particularly since Trump did release the transcript and everyone can read for themselves who said what.

And Trump has demonstrated that it's OK to not fold like a cheap lawn chair in the face of some truly outrageous and bizarre accusations, which is the custom of Republicans in the past. Romney, McCain, Bush 43. Sure, he's an asshole, but so are the Democrats who are the ones damaging our democratic process with repeated attempted soft coups. From Clinton, Brennan, Comey, McCabe to Vindman, Ciaramella ,Schiff, Pelosi and everyone in between. They've been kicking Trump daily for three years and they're surprised when he kicks back? It doesn't matter, because they've goy another scam locked and loaded, when this one fails. There is a high probability of an impeachment vote, but all the dems and Pelosi may not be all in. In fact, Pelosi knows she is playing with fire but is being pressured by more radical elements of her party. Also, there are over 30 Congressmen who represent districts who voted for Trump. Their future in about a year is unclear, should an impeachment vote go through.
