Politics Protests in Belarus

Sounds like a recipe for mass change, and emmigration... does Belarus become the new Poland?? I'm not saying thats a bad thing, BTW.

No, this is a completely socialist country a la Yugoslavia. Poles do remember how painful Leszek Balcerowicz reforms were, and Poland did have massive backing from Western Europe. In Belarus in terms of economy thing look grim, in my view regardless of whether Lukashenko stays or leaves.

Has NEXTA run out of money?

empty.webp

No one came to the “daily protest” on Independence Square in Minsk.

Nobody heard about her since this morning.
Our officials deny she was detained. Two other members of Coordination Soviet probably were detained as well today.

The minibus was followed by a car with Ukrainian number plate(?).

I do not see any reason for Russian military intervention at the time. Actually military and police are the most potent parts of Lukashenko rule. Me think Russia will support him other way, and Lukashenko will paid full price this time.

But this is exactly the problem. If Lukashenko stays you alienate the majority of teh Population. An invasion would do the same.

Best solution is to get rid of Lukashenko, will of the people obeyed. The country is Russia friendly after all. So all happy. Belarus happy, Russia happy, EU happy.

some details of the night escape of the Kolesnikov-Rodnenkov-Kravtsov trinity.

Everything is casual and calm. At 4.04 in the morning. Trinity is undergoing border control at the state border, so to speak, in a regular mode. The piquancy of the situation is that in connection with the strengthening of state borders, we have recently set up additional checkpoints at all checkpoints - KRP. One of them is deployed near the village of Aleksandrovka. It was there that the additional verification was carried out, and it was there that the incident occurred. The fugitives, seeing an additional obstacle, panicked, deciding that it was for their souls, so they decided to break through by force.

Fully agree with that, as i said earlier Russia is not happy with Lukashenko at all. He made lots of stupid decisions and mistakes and now we stuck amongst bad and worst.

In my opinion best way for Lukashenko was Kazakstan way - support successor and leave presidency. He lost that chance.
Me think Russia will get everything we want from Lukashenko and then after several months or may be a year organise new elections. Current protests are stuck and nationwide strike has failed, so if there will not any bloody false flag operation from protesters side or some massive stupidity from government side, Lukashenko seem have a time to transit power in more organised way.

And you think the protesters will accept someone chosen and/or supported by Lukashenko? I very much doubt it ...

Well, that is much difficult task for now, but still possible. Ofcouse if we talk not about protesters, but Belorussian people in general. Me think now Russian side will advise to divide opposition on neutral and pro-western ones. Then speak with sane opposition and destroy radical pro-western groups. I'm not Belarus political expert for sure, but think you can always find some compromise, a person who will supported by Lukashenko and moderate opposition as well.

News from Belarussian telegram front.

NEXTA calls for creating local self-defence units of 10-15 people coordinated by closed telegram chats. Self-defence units should command communal services, protect flags and banners from police forces and cover people during the protests. Also make some revenge operations and whatever they need for the revolution. Molotov cocktails all over local chats.
