Military question. Why not use national guard for this not active military troops? Does it not take away from their training schedule etc. and hinder their combat readiness?

There are also news stories of entering the country becoming more difficult. On top of general attitude change, I would expect such to affect tourism too.

People don't really want to end up as a victim of some random power harassment when entering a country legally.

My siblings and I, along with a lot of people I know have already informed our relations in the US or just outright cancelled trips there. Which is sad, it is a perfect country for road trips.

Yeah, an MMA coach for one. Dana White a Trump friend will be pissed, Ufc is very international-like.

Can see Usa anthem being booed again in Canada.

Happy Palm Sunday to those that celebrate.

Have just been on X and boy oh boy, the 50 Cent Army is out in force. "Trump blinked". "Trump bent the knee". "Trump surrendered".

Hilarious!

China has a very big problem. The American middle class is ONE THIRD of the global consumer market. China has built it's economy to service this sector. Millions of factories, millions of workers dedicated to this market. And you know how Americans pay Chinese companies? Not with Pesos, Rupees,Kwanza, Yuan or other fugazi paper. They pay with the mighty UNITED STATES DOLLAR. And they pay immediately with no drama.

Currently, 70% of Chinese products destined for the US have a 145% tariff, the remainder 20%. The Chinese will happily eat the 20%. The 145% means it is unsaleable in the US. Those orders have been delayed or canceled. Chinese factories have already been idled and workers told to stay home. The US can buy it's products from anywhere. The Chinese ***HAVE TO*** sell their products to the US or divert them elsewhere. Good luck getting India to pay on time with Rupees, if you even want Rupees. How about Dinar or Kwanzas. Worth less than Yuan - which BTW, only has value if it's pegged to the US Dollar. No USDs on hand from selling to Americans and the Yuan is about equal to toilet paper.

That is all.

Did Xi call yet?

I think you'd know before me. ;)
Well if they want that call, maybe Trumps team should have a coherent plan first.... what is his team a bunch of children with the takebacksis

Ah ok, well the past few days, the Trump admin mentioned that the tariff will exempt some electronics goods, then did a 180.

The US can buy it's products from anywhere

Alternatives are not necessarily available anywhere in significant numbers, at least not in few years. Lower supply will increase the prices of those alternatives.

Meanwhile cheap Chinese goods are flooding the market elsewhere, making them dirt cheap.

Well I suggest you stop posting and get that Nokia 5110 line back online, you just got yourself a new market.

There will be some adjusting in the system for a while. As we are seeing, this is about more than just tariffs.
