They've been doing the same for like 25 years or more.US is not running a surplus which is very easy to observe and servicing the growing debt is a bankrupt program.
Of course if some genius starts attacking investors, pushing US manufacturers overseas and hates energy independence so prefers to hand their foreign policy into the hands of opponents the ability to keep borrowing will become a lot more costly and/or limited.
And it will all be [insert random former Republican president's name] fault!
