I have a friend at Infantry School. The Elcan is incompatible with the Lucie II night vision goggles used by the German Army. They're looking into two options: Selecting another sight, or buying a new NVG altogether.

Finland signs a letter of intent with ICEYE for SAR satellites.

ICEYE has proven to be quite useful in Ukraine.

Finland Ministry of Defense selects ICEYE for space-based intelligence and surveillance capabilities

Finland is now taking a unique step forward in national defense. By acquiring our own satellites, we are strengthening our independent space-based intelligence and surveillance capabilities, and at the same time, we are supporting the domestic high-tech defense industry and creating new opportunities to deepen cooperation with allies and partners,” says Minister of Defense Antti Häkkänen.

This cooperation offers the Finnish defense administration a rapid path to developing intelligence and surveillance capabilities and it plays a significant role in the overall development of the Defense Forces’ space-based capabilities.

ICEYE owns and operates the world’s largest SAR satellite constellation, providing unlimited global access and the highest revisit frequency on the market. ICEYE SAR satellites provide 25 cm ground resolution, enabling accurate object detection and situational awareness in all weather and light conditions. To date, ICEYE has launched 54 SAR satellites into orbit for ICEYE’s and its customers’ use.

Spain

Despite the signing of the MoU with Turkey during the last FEINDEF 25, not much official information has been released until now.

After the report of Minister Robles in the Senate Defence Committee, we now have official data on the acquisition of the Hürjet by Spain.

PDF - Spanish Senate - Defence Committee (27/06/2025) - Spanish

IMHO, the main points to highlight are:

- The Hürjet will officially replace the F-5M in the Spanish Air Force.
- 28/30 Hürjets will replace the 19 F-5Ms in service.
- Hürjet Programme investment of 1375 million €uros.
- Spain (Airbus) enters the Hürjet programme with design authority.
- The programme includes the acquisition of the aircraft, the spanish development and implementation of the Ground-
Based Training System, as well as an unspecified number of simulators.
- Deliveries: first 6 in 2028, next 12 in 2029, the rest from 2030 until the order is completed.
