Politics All Things Trump

12 million US jobs go with automated truck drivers..seen this movie before. We were suppose to be living off krill acording to a group of experts. There are many fantacies that done't fully include human preference. The latest thing takes hold and the press mojority of whom have not had an actual life beyond left wing education report it.
Then again were are happy to us imported migration. So long as they stay over there and we cannot see it, hidden by borrowing.
12 mill on the streets all of a sudden may not get ignored.
You may have a preference to have a human airplane pilot or surgeon. You have no human preference on who welded your car, or screwed the seats on.

And sales of self driving cars show that some conceptions are starting to fade.

Yeah but as you noted its not just China. Veitnam and the rest. The same thing.
Fluff noted 4% uneploed but they also went from making stuff to stacking shelves. Manufacturing pays way better for an economy and double it if thats not imported. Crazy world of free trade .. a suckers game as it shows in German manufacturing. Its made elsewhere. Aussie polititians spat on their industry and still do. Take away their minerals though and they would be broke. Same with us without the rain.
The biggest factor to me, is that we are outsourcing the manufacturing to China, which with the best will in the world, has a very different way of running their country, and hence how they relate to the world. Everyone will then tell you that China needs our money, orders etc, to keep people happy. But this argument didn't work with Russia/Putin/Europe/Gas. Do we need a second demonstration of this?

Germany is absolutely shitting themselves, with negative GDP etc. China took the cheap end of the market, now its taking the quality end of the market.

Beyond that, what is the logic, of shipping coal, iron ore etc to China, to make something then shipping that item half way round the world to me? if the person making it in china enjoys health care, clean air, etc it will cost exactly the same as making it in Europe, or UK or USA.

No-one needs to be making 100% of everything, this would stiffle invention, and competition, but we should be making 50% of most things we need.

We also cannot rely on the argument that China makes flip flops, Europe and USA make passenger planes, China will have its own plane in 5 years time, first in china, then 5 years later certified for the rest of the world.

The robot who welded my car lives in Thailand.
They say you'll be fine on welfare, you'll be able to spend all that time on self improvment and philosophy then I look at those on welfare.

The guy in Thailand lives on less than welfare probably. He has a job because he is cheap. For now because even there automation will make its way, just as it is in mainland China.

EDIT: China has more robots per employees than the US. Only South Korea and Singapore have more.

You are right. China does not make flip flops anymore. The guy who made flip flops lost his job, but unlike in a democracy, he has nowhere to make a fuss about it. China being driven with a steel hand to be a superpower does not lose time in thinking how to save workplaces that are untenable.

And this is how it should have been

And nearly was, with the average tariff rate of 1%.

Speaking of the response. It might actually be stupid to respond by putting reciprocal tariffs. It's bad for our own economy too, like mentioned. Much better idea to select few a sectors.

Then we have bureaucrats selecting winners. Given both sides are mature only new venture sectors should need seedling help. Though clearly after this gutting it needs help rebuilding obviously this will be via new automation.
The republicans dislike taxes and refuse to create a VAT and forget taxing of their own folks, happy to tax the EU though.
Basically we will back the manufacturing pronto and remain doing our service industry lives, phd's in pronouns.

Until actual arrests made and trials began and sentences being served, it's all a dog and pony show.

What a trash person she is. My loyalty is to the nation, not to a political party or the Department of the Army that I served in.
