However, not the US. People who include gun rights in their vote decision are motivated voters in the US. The Democratic party simply wrote them off years ago, and fashion their election plans knowing that is a block of votes they will not receive.

Please note this does not mean all gun owners, just those who factor it into their voting decision. Still actually a large and motivated block of voters in many parts of the country.

I'm a gun owner & voter in New Zealand, there was no vote on gun control, it was by the labour government of the day under Ardern, who used a tragedy to push through a socialist agenda, so I'm not sure what you're saying here. Gun owners are always going to be a minority bloc, where the majority, ie 80% are informed by fear that they're going to be shot just walking down the street. Crime stats for 2022 show this to be false (2023 isn't ready yet), as 17% of 67 murders were by firearms, 24% stabbing, and the balance being other weapon or assault. New Zealand road toll (372 in 2022) is greater than our murder rate, and our suicide rate higher again at 565 Ie you're likely to be killed by an unarmed guy, more likely to be run over, and far more likely to take your own life, than be shot and killed in an act of murder. Manslaughter is even less again, those accidents out hunting or cleaning.

Couple of policy oddballs. Trumps says police will have immunity. Which is not constitutional....everyone equal before law.

On that particular point, I do believe he is way off.

However, a thing called Part IX Qualified Immunity exists. It relates to Civil court, not criminal. It applies broadly to most government workers. Including law enforcement. And if you think it through you can see why.

Similar Civil protections exist in most US states at the state court level.

While I understand why this exists. We didn't really arrive at this Civil solution in the best manner.

What happens if we extend it to Criminal allegations? Well that sounds bad. Most prosecutors won't bring a criminal case against LEO (Or government worker) unless they really have the evidence and the law on their side. Do we need to gum that up? I don't think so.

And I am a fairly Law & Order type of person. Not so much the TV show.
