Politics All Things Trump

And now classified documents found at Pence's house.

The US seems to have a real problem when it comes to keeping their classified stuff locked up.

So much for the "Kavanaughty" stuff...

If it happens Russia will meddle with the US elections again???

DeSantis isn’t bad, and I agreed with many things he’s done in Florida or things he’s stated more nationwide America, but this “yeah payments to porn star, not for me” isn’t what everybody want to hear. He’s probably not holier than thou, though I get those two are on the way, assuming Trump don’t get handcuffed tomorrow to be opponent in the GOP primary.

the conservatives/republicans are their own worst enemies. there seems to be an absolute utter lack of any kind of unity or organization... not to mention that many conservative voters simply wont vote if the candidate doesn't pass their "purity" test on a given issue... they stay home, and the leftist wins...
on the other hand the left seems to have perfected the hive mind and have the unity needed to bury conservatives, figuratively forever, and possibly at some point even literally...
all this talk that Trump will "win" if he is arrested... LOLWUT? do you not remember last November? the red wave turned into a trickle? Trump may win the GOP primary, but who cares, thats not what counts... To think that Trump would somehow win a national election, after ALREADY being beaten once, AND after the non-existence of a red wave, can only mean that most conservatives don't spend much time in the real world...
The very fact there was no red wave, brings the idea of a presidential GOP victory (by ANY candidate) in 2024 under extreme doubt, at least upon consideration by any rational thinking person.
I recently spent some time on the other side, and it was VERY VERY surprising to see how far away their reality was from my own...
In their world, the Steele dossier was NOT fake, and PROVED russia and Trump collusion, the Jan 6 footage that Tucker showed is "cherry picking" but the footage showed by CNN/MSNBC is NOT, DeSantis IS a racist, and DOES burn books, and DOES whitewash/outright censor our racist national history, and has done a TERRIBLE job with Florida... the idea that Covid MIGHT have been an accidental lab leak is STILL considered a conspiracy theory and not worth even a second of consideration...
ETC
ETC
ETC
Unless the GOP/conservatives can overcome this reality, they will NOT win.

Yeah, personally and as a non-American you guys can have DeSantis or Trump, though and it’s only my own opinion I believe Trump is about finished politically, not because of alleged affairs or payment to a porn star more because of the 2020 defeat to Old Joe. I might be wrong but… who knows.

The GOP if Trump for whatever reason cannot make it to the primary would need a younger guy, and DeSantis had many many interesting stances which I mostly agreed with even as a damn Euro. Covid or Wokism BS included.

I never liked Ted Cruz on the other hand and again only some gut feeling from me I don’t think he’s the DNA to be the leader of what we used to call the “Free World”.

The Conservatives/Republicans are too passive and nonchalant in their approach.

Though they manage to stir the pot a bit during Committee hearings, they still are too over-confident with a sort of "right is might, and thus might is right" approach.

As you said, despite the energy displayed, there was no "red wave", but a tremor in the pond at best. And then there was the whole "Kary Lake" kerfuffle that might have discouraged quite a few.
Finally, there still is the issue of "weaknesses" within the party itself such as the Rinos, neocons and undecided fence-sitters; to the point that some of the Senators on the left (Manchkin, and Sinema to some extent) sometimes appear more reliable than some of the Reps who have been there since forever (Lindsey Graham for instance).

If Trump is arrested it will boost Trump's popularity among his base. It will probably not create new supporters though. But that popularity will be astroturfed by the Reps as used for the party's platform.
Trump has a HUGE bully-pulpit. That move will only bolster it to the point of him even winning the nomination anyway. It won't even be anywhere near close to 2016; but you can bet Reps delegates will hurry to flock around him, singing his praises and holding him as some sort of martyred idol, insert Marlon Brando's "look at what they did to my poor son" performance.

I "kind of" want, or would like, to see the whole Bragg's move being carried out though. From a legal point of view that would pretty interesting and quite the spectacle, not that the actual legal case holds any weight but in term of trials going on things are pretty quiet at the moment.

The whole call for protests is also interesting and reminiscent of Jan6. I didn't check, but I would assume it created some waves in the liberal world with Trump's message being understood as another call for insurrection.

as a non-American
Also as a non-American, the way things are going i don't think that the USA will ever have a republican president. The Democrats have almost all of mass media, social media and the school system from kindergarten to college. I would not be surprised if we see a civil war or a split in the States in our lifetimes.

Yeah but maybe nope.

Right during Obama second tenure, some people were (rightly or not) complaining that the GOP and Republicans were about done especially after eight years of Dubya.

It turned out that Trump literally baffled everyone with admittedly a groundbreaking campaign that appealed to the common people, he came across as a man of the people.

Right now, leftists indeed have quite taken over what you mention, but I think someone like DeSantis could end this nonsense. Not saying it’s going to be an easy task but something could be done about cancel culture, Wokism and the rest.

The suspense!

The tension!

Back then, social media was just a small thing, and schools and colleges were not almost all staffed by Democrats or far-left people. And since then, the teens that they schooled got the age and right to vote. It will be close in 2024 but we will see a Democrat president probably Michelle Obama or Gavin from California.

as someone noted, while the republicans were working on tax breaks for their corporate buddies (which in some instances might have actually benefitted the working class) the left was playing the long game, slowly taking over the schools and alphabet agencies... now they are working on the military...
I dont know what is going to happen. I am 1000% against where the country is heading, and looking back in history for clues as to the future, seems in this case, to be uncharted ground. At the same time, neither political party represents me, there is only bad, and less bad.
I really think that people (those on the right in particular) underestimate the power of the media in lockstep with the far left woke goals.... Those on the left are too brainwashed to even begin to formulate any kind of critical thinking when confronted with whatever is passing as news on CNN....
...but I think you may be correct. Under the current conditions I cant see a GOP president elected anytime soon... I am also fairly sure that once the left gets enough power, it will get ugly. History has shown nothing good happens when a ideology gets total power and believes that their "enemies" are evil.
