The people of Hong Kong have been spoiled by living too long in a British type democracy...but I really doubt they actually think the US is coming to their rescue...should that even qualify as a rescue.

I doubt people in the UK or the US can protest like that and for so long with the Policemen in those countries being as patient as the HK cops or the government in China.At this rate, HK seems to free er than most nations and they are squandering it away. They sure as hell helping the Chinese have a reason to open a can of whoop ass

I don't get why they leave the HKers in peace, thought it's all about the money and good living standards.

My wife returned yesterday from HK she said even large buildings are now set on fire.

The CCPs fear of freedom (here is a fundamental difference to Europe and the Catalan issues) led to this violence. No one would have done anything if it wasn't for the CCP always trying to constrict freedom in salami tactics. No (ordinary) Catalan has to fear the same political restrictions as a mainland and soon also HK Chinese.

Also there are free elections over here. Something the pro Beijing camp fears.

On the contrary, catalan wanted to secede and Spain along with the EU treated that election like S**t. Hong Kong is a Chinese city, now why cant the rest of China extradite its criminals? It has nothing to do with elections

But HK does not seem to want to be a Chinese city anymore. HK could dream of having the freedoms the Catalans enjoy.

I think it has to do with elections, see the Catalans were able to elect another separatist government. What is "wanted" for HK on 24 November?

Change is something the CCP and their profiteers do not want.

The pro democracy camp is stronger than the corrupt CCP fans. Some are already seeing some profits to be made once CCP uses full force or the unwanted troublemakers get silenced otherwise.

HK does not want to secede yet - Catalunya did.

I would support an exchange program where American flag waving, liberty yearning Hong Kongers are swapped one for one, with brain dead ANTIFA fascists. It's a win-win.

Hong Kongers wanting freedom come to the US and ANTIFAs wanting fascism can go to China and experience it first hand while living under a repressive regime.

Ten years ago China really cracked down on the Muslim Uyghur population. 184 people were killed during rioting. The rioting caused by racial tensions between the Uyghur Muslims & Han Chinese . With the local police & Peoples Armed Police siding with the Han Chinese.

In my opinion if those were Uyghur Muslims in Hong Kong I think China would have cracked down on them months ago.

I love how the western media is showing it as a Hong Kongers battle for freedom. The news all over Asia is showing more of a bunch of anarchists trying to sow terror, with some foreigners actually coming in to "fight the system." You can actually see the Hong Kongers cleaning up their cities after rioters and beginning to stand up.
