A Super Tucano light attack and trainer aircraft operated by Mali’s Air Force has crashed, killing both pilots on board.
The aircraft came down on 7 April near the town of Sevare in the Mopti region of Mali near the Inner Niger Delta. The Mali Air Force’s Base Aerienne 102 is located at Sevare Airport.
It is not clear what caused the crash, but Mali’s Air Force said the aircraft lost control whilst preparing to land.
The aircraft (TZ04C) had been flying with another Super Tucano (TZ02C) before the accident.
A video circulating on social media appears to show the aircraft dive inverted towards the ground and attempt to recover before crashing.
An investigation is underway to determine the causes of the accident.
The Force Aérienne de Guinée received a pair of CSLM aircraft in about 2013, and three further Tétras CSMs in May 2015. One was lost on October 5 2016.
