Ukrainian servicemen showed a homemade washing machine. The device of the washing machine is quite simple, a tube from one of the ammunition is simply attached to the wheel of the car and the engine is turned on. Despite the simplicity of the design, theoretically, this homemade washing machine can wash things no worse than a regular one, since their operating principle is the same

Defense line of the Ukrainian army in the Kyiv region. Footage of the constructed defensive structures of the Ukrainian army in the Kyiv region has been published. It is worth noting that earlier, deputy of the Ukrainian Rada Irina Gerashchenko visited the Kharkov region and stated that the work on the construction of fortifications in the region was only an “imitation of vigorous activity”; money for fortifications in the Kharkov region was rolled into the ground for 1.5 years. The authorities of the Kyiv region, after a scandal surrounding reports of possible embezzlement during the construction of fortification lines on the borders of the Kharkov region, attracted special services and public organizations to check the construction of defensive lines in the region.

The Swedish government will send new military equipment to Ukraine worth $1.3 billion to fill the country’s most urgent capability gaps, officials announced on Wednesday.

The aid package will include the Saab-made airborne surveillance and control aircraft, known as ASC-890, which can track ships, drones, aircraft and missiles.

According to a statement published by the Swedish government, the aircraft will strengthen Ukraine’s “capability to identify and engage targets at long range.”

The weapons bundle will also contain a number of Swedish-made, advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles, or RB-99-AMRAAM, adapted for ground-to-air engagements.

The Scandinavian country will send its complete stock of armoured tracked personnel carriers, the PBV 302, alongside spare parts, ammunition, and maintenance equipment to support the regeneration of new Ukrainian brigades.

The Swedish vehicles, produced by the company now known as BAE Systems Hägglunds, were retired from service in 2014.

Additionally, Kyiv will receive an undisclosed number of 155mm artillery shells from Swedish stockpiles, “to combat Russian units in the depths of the battlefield,” according to the statement.

While this donation will lead to a temporary decline in Sweden’s armament, government officials have already committed to procuring more munitions as replacements. Similarly, defence officials in Stockholm intend to buy more GlobalEye surveillance aircraft from Saab to make up for the donation of the older ASC-890 type.

These Swedish pledge follows military aid commitments from Spain and Belgium this week in the areas of combat aircraft, tanks and air defence.

Italy has confirmed it will send a second SAMP/T air defense battery to Ukraine in response to urgent appeals by Kyiv to help defeat Russian missile attacks.

“It is known that we will send SAMP/T, which is an instrument of air defense, therefore of protection, that Ukraine itself asked us for,” Italy’s foreign minister, Antonio Tajani, said late on June 3.

One of five systems now operated by Italy, the battery due for dispatch to Ukraine is reportedly currently deployed in Kuwait. Another system has recently been stationed in Slovakia as part of a NATO program, and another is due to be set up in June in southern Italy to protect a G7 summit.

The battery is set to be included in the ninth package of arms to be delivered to Kyiv since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The United States sent the Ukrainian army a 105-mm Hawkeye mobile howitzer system for testing. This was announced by AM General director Mike Evans. The Hawkeye howitzer was developed by AM General and Mandus Group and was first shown in 2017. The Hawkeye howitzer is located on the base of the Humvee army SUV; other chassis can be used. The howitzer system moves the barrel and breech of the gun forward immediately before firing - this allows you to compensate for the load on the chassis and reduce recoil by 70%. It is worth noting that this system is quite complex and how it will work during long-term combat operation is unknown. The Hawkeye uses the M20 105mm howitzer. The Hawkeye's firing range with standard projectiles is 11.5 km, with active-missile projectiles 15-19 km. Mandus Group guarantees an effective rate of fire of the Hawkeye howitzer of at least three rounds per minute and an accelerated rate of fire of up to 12 rounds. The Hawkeye howitzer has a digital fire control system and is operated by a crew of three. The combat weight of the Hawkeye self-propelled gun on the Humvee chassis does not exceed 4.4 tons.

The U.S. is providing another $1.7 billion in military aid for Ukraine’s war effort, including air-defense interceptors, anti-tank weapons and munitions, the Pentagon announced Monday.

Up to $200 million will be provided through the presidential drawdown authority, which means equipment is pulled from existing U.S. military stocks and sent to Ukraine on an emergency basis.

About $1.5 billion will be provided through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which gives long-term aid to procure weapons and munitions from the defense industry or partner countries for a later time. This includes capabilities to augment Ukraine’s air defense and anti-tank weapons, as well as funding to sustain equipment previously committed by the United States.

The U.S. has provided about $55.4 billion in military aid to Ukraine since Russian forces invaded in February 2022.

The latest announcement comes after the Pentagon discovered another $2 billion in accounting errors that would allow the U.S. to provide more aid to Ukraine, the GAO reported last week. The department last year discovered it overestimated the value of the weapons and equipment sent to Ukraine by $6.2 billion.

The items in the military aid announced Monday include:

• Munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems.

• Short- and medium-range air defense munitions.

• Missiles for air defense.

• Electronic warfare equipment.

• Ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems.

• 155mm and 105mm artillery rounds.

• 120mm mortar rounds.

• Precision aerial munitions.

• Tube-launched, optically tracked, wire-guided missiles.

• Javelin and AT-4 anti-armor systems.

• Small arms.

• Explosives material and demolitions equipment and munitions.

• Secure communications systems.

• Commercial satellite imagery services.

• Spare parts, maintenance and sustainment support, and other ancillary equipment.

The first two Danish F-16AM fighters have arrived in Ukraine. The aircraft were personally presented by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Vasylkiv airfield, 40 km from Kyiv. The aircraft's side numbers have been obscured, but thanks to photos from the flights, they were identified as UA 80-3596 and UA 80-3599. Both Ukrainian fighters were built under license at the Belgian aircraft manufacturer SABCA, and in 1982 they were transferred to Denmark under the numbers E-596 and E-599. Denmark plans to transfer a total of 79 F-16 fighters to Ukraine. The estimated service life of the F-16A/B airframe is 8,000 hours, while all "European" F-16A/Bs have a flight time of 7,000 to 7,500 hours to date. The Ukrainian F-16 fighters are equipped with medium-range AIM-120 AMRAAM air-to-air missiles and short-range AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles. The aircraft have external fuel tanks. Presumably, the F-16's task will be to support the remaining Ukrainian Su-24MR and MiG-29 aircraft, as well as launch Storm Shadow and SCALP cruise missiles. Ukrainian F-16 pilots received JHMCS helmet-mounted targeting sights, which allows the pilot to shoot where his gaze is directed regardless of the direction of the helmet. The aircraft are equipped with the Terma PIDS+ and ECIPS+ missile attack warning system, with a jamming device and the release of additional heat traps. The F-16 fighters transferred to Ukraine will be based at the Limanske airfield in the Odessa region on the border with Romania.

Ukrainian M2A2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, made in the US, will receive factory-installed "Mangal" protection. The new protection will be manufactured by Rinat Akhmetov's Ukrainian company Metinvest. Screens for Ukrainian T-64 and T-72 tanks and American-made M1A1SA Abrams tanks have also been launched into production. It is worth noting that the Russian army also uses this type of protection, equipping tanks and infantry fighting vehicles with it. This type of protection is often criticized for its appearance, but it protects equipment from being hit by FPV drones. The protection consists of lattice screens weighing about 430 kg, which protect the combat vehicle from the sides and from above. The Ukrainian version of the "Mangal" type protection will differ from the Russian one, in which the lattice screens will be sliding. How and where the sliding of the lattices is implemented is not reported.
