Politics South China Sea Thread

China's population is not growing, so I don't think China will need more food in the future.

Symptomatic of the above. They are very interested in growing their own western food at great cost. Import cows from NZ and soy meal for cows from S.America for milk production.

What do you mean “western food”?There is nothing inherently "western" about beef or milk, these ingredient were incorporated in cuisines across different civilization for thousands of years already. Calling it "nomad" food would be more appropriate。

When Taiwan finishes integrating mainland china into the "Greater Republic of China" the shortages will cease.

maybe they can import some of our lefties who can show them how to turn their boys into girls.
Well, if you read some of the CCP bloggers, they plan to exterminate all the white men, take the white women and train the white children to be slave labor, after they take over.

For a race that is inherently intolerant to lactose that is a strange supposition that it is a chinese food which is what you are alluding to in around about way.
An entire industry has been created to cater for this. A2 milk. Its one of our best companies the past decade.
Mozzeralla, cheese, butter, wine from European heritage are all growing sales to china. Non are based on the chinese palate,
We are not talking about fermented yak milk in an urn.

Coal spot price hit $400 per ton. Up from around $70 10 year average. This is gonna kill any remaining CCP bitcoin miners. Deforestation for firewood. Greta must be laughing her arse off at China supporting Russia

How long until China calls it a Defensive Military Alliance?

China does know how to play the game. since those new pacts are from soevereign nations then the Aussies and Alliance cant do much about it. Unless... they pull a Russia and "denazify" these islanders.

If you haven't noticed the locals want to de-Chinanize the place. Or as you describe de-nazify. Same thing. See Chinatown riots.
This is simply corrupt politicians. We don't play the corrupt game as well as the chinese.

Well, that is for the Solomon Islands to decide, right? If they go on a riot and over throw their government because of this, then its their call. It is up to them and not the other nations.

Debt dependency? Sri Lanka is a nice example of overstepping ability to fund debt thereby becoming dependent to the lender.
This is the simple chinese colonial blue print to self perpetual misery.
Is it best to step back and watch it happen?

hmmmmmm.

This is concerning. I know the Solomon Islands are not in the South China sea. However if the Chinese build a military base this close to Australian soil (~3000km from aus) that is a major problem. Australia has been active in the Philippines working with our regional partners and the US etc. to disrupt ISIS. We do not want a well organized and motivated terror group on out doorstep. I do feel like the current Aus government has dropped the ball when it comes to the Chinese military establishing a foothold in the Solomon Islands though.
