Politics Riots in Kazakhstan - jan 2022

In my opinion it all happened in 3 steps:

1) First - local unrest because of 100+% increase in LNG prices in one of Kstan regions.
2) It was quickly used as a pretence for unrest in major cities, either by president's clan or former president's clan.
3) Then it went out of control, batshit-crazy our of control, so Kazakh president even asked for intervention.

Now all these Soros/CIA-funded shitheads all over the world (and in Ukraine in particular) are trying to fuel this fire as much as possible.
I personally do not believe it is in US interests as KStan had pretty good relations to US, but nowadays we are seeing pretty straightforward logic: "Does it hurt Russia? If it does - lets go and do it" without any regards to future outcomes.

And China.

China would come afterward though, since K-stan and the Xinjiang province act as "buffer zones" for "troublesome" populations, thus allowing China to not have to deal with it.

China need this region to be stable, and they probably would not take it, Xinjiang being a region that always caused trouble for China.

Meh... still kind of a gamble though.

But eh, isn't it what life is all about?

People explode after years of oppression and cronyism. Could be as simple as that.

The real reason!
This would indicate political infighting using the gas price spike as a pretense.
Not accurate. Troops will be sent be CSTO, the chairman currently is this clown Pashinyan who decided to do it overnight.
I don't really know how many Russians in the CSTO force, but I suspect not a lot. And the deployment won't happen immediately, these troops need to gather first.

True, but nobody cares too much here, at least based on the reaction I saw in social media. Definitely nobody wants our boys to be wounded or killed in this mess.
In name the CSTO would send troops, but seeing as how easily the Kazakh troops fold I wouldn't expect much from the other Stans or Armenia which is still recovering from war. Any heavy lifting would have to be done by Russian forces.
However. Inital reason (car fuel prices) was very minor - gas prices are lower then in any neigbohur countries and salaries are higher (except for Russia). After inital protests government resigned and every protester demands were resolved. But riots are became even more agressive.
Some claim the French revolution started because of the price of bread. Really it was a combination of social, economical and political factors just like it was in Russia (twice), Germany etc. It only takes a small spark to ignite a powderkeg.
I personally do not believe it is in US interests as KStan had pretty good relations to US, but nowadays we are seeing pretty straightforward logic: "Does it hurt Russia? If it does - lets go and do it" without any regards to future outcomes.
Biden & co are perfectly willing to screw over even actual allies, but are they competent enough to play on multiple fronts at once? No, not at all. Also they would have used their control over the media much more to paint the government as the bad guys like they did in every other revolution they interfered with in the last decade.

I would guess the problem in these states is always the same. Rich cleptocrats do not share their (energy) wealth with the populace. Lots of corruption do the rest.

Anyway pretty sad that countries being so resources rich are totally incapable of setting up stable structures.

You can not treat the population like S**t forever.
My comment is directed with regards his "US started this events in K-stan to have an additional lever in upcoming negotiations." claim.

Mmmm . . . . I see a stark resemblance in posting from two trolls who recently got bounced out of the forum recently, you need to tone down the rhetoric and give some concrete evidence of your claims, I am all for a discussion/debate on any subject, but, ranting is not discussing or debating.

Technically, it is not entire wrong, while being not entirely right either.

More like a big conflation of things that have not really much in common apart from the fact that "The West" got involved at some point.

Afghanistan being the most irrelevant of the group.

Contexts are much different in each cases.

Strange how the CSTO didn't rush to help Armenia in NK......yet happy to get involved with propping up the Kazach g'ment.

Not really the same situation though...

On the one side: war between two countries, with third parties (Turkey) involved, with whom you have, all things considered, good relations.
On the other: (violent) civil unrest.

Show of hands.

Who thinks this is just about increasing energy prices?

Update:
The number of killed LEOs increased to 18 people, 748 were injured.
The number of people detained in Almaty increased to 2298 people.
The total amount of damage after the riots in Kazakhstan roughly $92 million.
