Mil News Current Iran/Iraq/US Tensions and Actions Unfolding

^^^Question: All these people you guys are referring to by these ancient Iranian names Surenas; Xerxes and so on and so forth, were they once members active on this forum?
Yes they were on MP net - I still have a link somewhere to one of them's website which has loads of military articles for pre 15C AD stuff - I have a lot of bronze arrow heads from various ancient battle sites - some of them were cast only for whatever battle - so it is an area that interests me

Some of them are really great - but some of them latterly needed a Leonidas (Y)

I have to admit that I don't know any of these guys, I joined the forum in mid 2019. Perhaps that was before my time. And good that BCNTM mentioned it, because that would have been my next question; I see people regularly referring to mp.net and "themess". The latter even appears in some folks' profiles, I thought that is just a subsection of this forum(?) but then someone talked about themess.net, but there is no such website that I could find.

MilitaryPhotos.net was a forum that ran from 2002 to 2015 and closed down for many reasons. It was quite an epic forum that had its fair share of outstanding posters and discussions but also some knuckleheads.

TheMess was the continuity of MPNET which was run by more or less the same team minus the owner of the defunct MPNET but sadly because of pretty much the same reason as its previous incarnation also died almost two years ago now.

The reason for some of us to have the TM banner on our profile is because we were once members of this forum.

Same for a few other users that wear their TAAR (The After Action Review) with pride. Also a now dead forum and many of us joined this one, MilitaryImages.net which has all qualities of these previous forums.

We all have themess banners as we all came to this fine 'home' when themess closed - before that it was MPnet

they just can't shake some of us off...................

He used to post all the pre AD stuff? - real Persian Army carvings and drawings?

Wasn't he a shoulder masseuse?

As for the Iranian boom-cracker splashing down 100miles from a carrier, let us remind our Mardonius here that it was well within the "inner air battle" space of the carrier group.

Xerxes.

Tall guy, bald, covered in oil, big fan of piercings and kinky dance clubs.
Oh please Ivan, don't you try and get me with your SouthPark references ;-), we Germans might not be as sophisticated as you French folk but we do have television.

I was deployed to Copenhagen for 2 weeks, the only english channel in the hotel was the film Klute with Jane Fonda, on a loop.

2 weeks.

Jane Fonda with her tits out.

on a loop.

We should be congratulating Iran for being able to work with ballistic missiles - a technology that is only 75 years old. I mean sure New Zealand has put more satellites into orbit than them. But still.

Well done Iran. Clap clap clap. ?

Heck of a genius we got over here. Let's generalize two different weapon systems solely because they belong to the same branch of projectiles!

Do they often throw around these kind of hollow analogies over there in kiwi-land?

Someone is missing something. Ballistic missiles and space flight are fundamentally the same. all stem from the V2 - you know it better as the SCUD.

Messerschmitt Me 262s and F-35s are the same. Both fly.
Yes, and they are closely related. See you do get it.

So the Germans could do it, and even countries like Argentina, Sweden, South Africa have produced jet fighters- whats your excuse?

Because Iran wisely concluded that it can never match the Americans in air power - no matter how much it spends. In stead, it has largely neglected its air force in favour of its ballistic missile branch. Considering the fact that Iran has now acquired pin-point accuracy, many tasks that are traditionally outsourced to air power in the west are now being fulfilled by ballistic missile units.

It's a matter of doctrine and budget allocation; not technological.

So back to ballistic missiles, they really are 'the same' as spaceflight.

As the the Air force issue, I agree that Iran could spend a fortune and still be destroyed quickly, but I dont agree that just having missiles will give Iran a lead. USA and others have had missiles for decades, even UK at one time had land based ballistic missiles in many sizes, all gone now.

I appreciate you wont agree, but really its only going to be proved should things kick off. Which I hope wont happen, but I believe it will happen.

How did you get over the small issue of someone on a no moonlight night dropping a small EMP weapon - unless you light the blue touch paper they are not going anywhere
Unless you intend a first strike, at that stage I am pretty sure what you get back it won't matter what you have got/had
