You guys once ruled one third of the world. How the hell did you guys ended up so brainless?
Because the world is full of people, that want feeding, educating, etc. There was frankly no profit in it. Should your expansionist wet dreams come to pass, you will discover the same. Best of luck.

Everyone wants to be middle class, even Iranians.

We have been in the expansionist business for approximately 3000 years, and still can't get enough of it. You guys threw in the towel after a couple of centuries only. Amateurs...

These days carriers are getting 'buzzed' by ballistic missiles instead of Tomcats. Oh, how the world has changed...

Iranian missiles land 100 miles from US aircraft carrier strike group in Indian Ocean

Long-range Iranian missiles rained down dangerously close to a commercial ship in the Indian Ocean on Saturday and 100 miles from the US Nimitz aircraft carrier strike group, Fox News reported.

US officials, who wished to remain anonymous, said that at least one of the missiles landed 20 miles from the commercial vessel.

At least two other Iranian ballistic missiles exploded on impact when they hit the ocean, about 100 miles away from the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier strike group.

Shards of debris flew in all directions on impact, the US news channel said.

“We were expecting the missile launch,” an official told Fox News, but there was concern about just how close Iran was willing to push its limits.

Nimitz has remained in the northern Arabian Sea on the orders of outgoing President Donald Trump.

There was a time, not long ago, when the Americans almost permanently had a carrier strike group stationed in the Persian Gulf. These days they like to stay as far as possible from its shores.

I'm just going to leave this here:

Here we have the former head of the CENTCOM correcting his junior officers who mistakenly believed that Iran is no match for the Americans, yet some couch analyst on this forum who hardly know any Iranian weapon by name delude themselves with their 'glassmaking' scenarios.
1st against 13th - looks a slam dunk to me

What the Yanks General was saying is don't be overconfident - but when you get a chance tread on them hard

Thing is it won't just be 1st against 13th - a few other people will pile in as well given half a chance

Iran also regularly penetrates Saudi air defenses. You know, those fancy and latest American systems that are manned by the British.
and it also happens the other way round - US also have decent satellite capability etc. etc.
Iran is like watching a fat lass trying to avoid CCTV
A sudden and sustained rupture of oil supplies and production in the Middle East will have global impact, which the yanks will surely feel as well. That's basic economics.
What I was pointing out to you is that the Americans have planned for a disruption
So lights are still on in America and life goes on - Iran - lights go out - also you loose 80% of your income
America can cope with a little disruption - Iran would be crippled
I'm outright denying the fact that the US or any other actor can get a victory out of a future conflict.
There are never any winners in any conflict - I would define 'victory' for Iran if they don't get nuked
Keep pushing the Americans and the slightest miscalculation on your side will result in a massive response
Yes. And Iran will just stand idly as its infrastructure comes under attack. How quickly you think the US' military infrastructure will be targetted by Iran's ballistic and cruise missiles, severing them in the process? Iran is not a punching bag, my friend.
Won't have much of a choice - start throwing ballistic missiles about you might get a few back
Whatever you throw out you will get back 10 fold or more
False equivalence.
Is it they thought they were the dogs gonads - and had the best equipment and best Generals - and they got pinned down and annihilated
Our lot just went through a bloody revolution, with the Shah's army purged from its finest officers, did not have the technology we currently have, etc. You are comparing apples with oranges.
Pears and Pears - excuses and excuses - we would have 'won' if ABC
A bit like how the Russians managed to underperform against the Finnish, yet steamroll over the Germans a couple of years later.
Fins had not rolled across their country - burning villages and killing all their people - Ruskis also had a lot of material support early on from America and UK - Fins seemed to be better at fighting in the snow than the Russians
Yanks seem to have no problem fighting anywhere - in fact ME seems to be a bit of a practice ground
Keep dreaming, You guys can't do a damn thing without destroying yourself in the process, whether economically, politically or militarily. The West is not in its best shape these days, and hardly can afford to get in a conflict with a power like Iran.
Iran is suffering a lot from COVID - so is everywhere else - did not see much difference after America flattened Iraq - won't see much difference if they ever flatten Iran, it's hardly going to be the end of Western civilization

You guys once ruled one third of the world. How the hell did you guys ended up so brainless?
We worked out once we had tried to culture everyone there was no hope - we spent the wealth of an empire in showing the Jerry's how to actually win a war (twice) (they did not learn either)
We did make the trains run on time and teach people how to drive on the correct side of the road
We even populated Australia and NZ
Iran is like patting a naughty child - eventually you need to get the stick out
If we are so brainless why does everyone use the Queens English? Even the Americans try(Y)???

How far did you get? - Holland?
