Mil News Current Iran/Iraq/US Tensions and Actions Unfolding

These days carriers are getting 'buzzed' by ballistic missiles instead of Tomcats. Oh, how the world has changed...

Iranian missiles land 100 miles from US aircraft carrier strike group in Indian Ocean

Long-range Iranian missiles rained down dangerously close to a commercial ship in the Indian Ocean on Saturday and 100 miles from the US Nimitz aircraft carrier strike group, Fox News reported.

US officials, who wished to remain anonymous, said that at least one of the missiles landed 20 miles from the commercial vessel.

At least two other Iranian ballistic missiles exploded on impact when they hit the ocean, about 100 miles away from the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier strike group.

Shards of debris flew in all directions on impact, the US news channel said.

“We were expecting the missile launch,” an official told Fox News, but there was concern about just how close Iran was willing to push its limits.

Nimitz has remained in the northern Arabian Sea on the orders of outgoing President Donald Trump.

There was a time, not long ago, when the Americans almost permanently had a carrier strike group stationed in the Persian Gulf. These days they like to stay as far as possible from its shores.
100 miles - it could have been the moon

So what - if it had hit an American - Russian or Chinese ship then I am pretty sure you may have had 1 or two back

Yanks will use stand off missiles and the carriers would only move into range once all threat had gone

Iran has also been pretty much central in my academic life.
Iran has a very rich culture and some really nice plants - try really hard not to kill the plants - please

I didn't see that meme coming

We should be congratulating Iran for being able to work with ballistic missiles - a technology that is only 75 years old. I mean sure New Zealand has put more satellites into orbit than them. But still.

Well done Iran. Clap clap clap. ?

Well done for not blowing itself up?

Given they can't sink a undefended and defenseless mock-up carrier (basically a large floating box), I suppose it belongs to the realm of miracles.

Praise to Allah, or whatever.

Americans are way ahead with their B-52 bombers. They're only 65 years old. Hopefully they wont start losing parts while flying over Iran. I mean don't let this cutting age technology fell into the hands of Iranians.
