Czech Republic reports revelation of Russian propaganda network in EU
The group's goal is said to have been to stop the EU from supporting Ukraine. European politicians are said to have been paid with Russian money
Prague – The Czech government has added the operators of the “Voice of Europe” website to its national sanctions list against Russia. The Foreign Ministry in Prague announced this on Wednesday. The website is part of a Russian influence operation whose aim is to question Ukraine's territorial integrity, sovereignty and freedom.
The newspaper "Denik N" reported, citing secret service circles, that money in cash was also handed over to politicians during visits to Prague through the influence network. These were politicians from Germany, France, Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Hungary. The Alternative for Germany (AfD) was also involved.
According to "Spiegel", "Voice of Europe" features, among other things, interviews with the AfD European election top candidate Maximilian Krah and the AfD candidate Petr Bystron, who is in second place on the list. According to "Spiegel", Krah explained that he had given two interviews to "Voice of Europe", one of them in Prague. “Of course, he didn’t get any money for it, neither for me nor for the party.”
Politicians are said to have received money
Some European politicians who worked with the news site were paid with Russian money, which in some cases also covered the costs of their campaign for the European elections in June. The news site published statements from politicians calling on the EU to stop aiding Ukraine.
