Politics The Czech Republic accuses Russia of involvement in munition depot explosion.

The current Czech authorities fabricated the case of the explosions at the military depots in Vrbetica in order to keep the people in fear and to manipulate them. This opinion was expressed on Monday by the ex-president of the republic Vaclav Klaus.

Suddenly
In the Czech Republic, they said that the explosions at the warehouses in Vrbetica were not an act of terrorism April 19, 2021 8:53 pm The explosions at the ammunition depot in Vrbetica in 2014 were not an act of state terrorism, Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babis said, noting that Russia did not attack the Czech Republic.

Frying eggs on russophobic faces again ;)

The Czech prime minister, Andrej Babis has reputation as the boy who cried wolf too many times while his security services are russophobic fools.

Another example of their sick fantasies was on display April last year when the Czech Republic has expelled two Russian diplomats after a BIS informant in Russian embassy spread false information about a planned poison attack on three Czech politicians. It turned out to be false and while Russians ousted BIS informant in process Czech politicians made themselves look silly in public media.
Babiš is whiny bastard, I agree with you on that, but he's an opportunistic populist, who acts only in his own interest. And right know, his biggest interest is to be a good pal with Miloš Zeman, the Russophilic prezident of the Czech Republic, as Zeman has him by the balls. Because, looking by the polls in the last months, Zeman is the only chance of Babiš how to rule the country after the parliamentary elections coming this October. Zeman basically said he wants to nominate Babiš to form a new goverment, even if his party wont get most of the votes. And there is A LOT at stake for Babiš, Zeman and people around them. Babiš and some of his pals even might face a jail time for their shady businesses if opposition parties will take over the government. So no, this whole situation doesn't help Babiš at all, as every anti-Russian move of Babiš is against the interests of Zeman. Babiš has already started to downplay the whole thing.

Opinion of a guy, probably the biggest narcissist this country ever knew, who doesn't have any access to any evidence the Czech secret services possess to this case. I would not make a big deal out of that quote.

Yeah, thats one of the downplays I've talked about. But it's worth to mention the rest of his statement:

"It was an attack against goods of Bulgarian arms dealer. Presence of GRU on our soil is unacceptable."

He doesn't stops to blame a Russian state military intelligence agency of causing the whole thing. Which quite contradicts the last sentence of your quote.

Yes, "to keep the people in fear and to manipulate them." sounds too far fetch.
More likely the main reasons to "fabricated the case of the explosions" has something to do with
The decision leaves France's EdF, South Korea's KHNP and US-based Westinghouse in play for a contract to build the new unit at the southern Dukovany plant by 2036.

In my opinion, the nuclear tender could have been the reason of the timing to reveal the case by the Czech sercret services as they didn't agree to invite Rosatom (and Chinese company) due to national security reasons. It turned out, Babiš, Interior minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs knew about the Russian involvement in the Vrbětice explosion for weeks now but for some unknown reason (Zeman?) they've decided to keep it secret and kept Rosatom in the tender and started to negotiate about the Sputnik vaccine delivery to the country. But bits of the information about Vrbětice case got to some of the Czech investigative journalists and asked Babiš and Interior minister what they know about it and just a few hours later, on Saturday evening, Babiš and Interior minister organized a quick press conference and revealed the whole thing.

Interesting article using the poll form GLOBSEC that defines among other issues the relationship and perception of Central and East Europeans with Russia.

People of Central Europe are rather fair about Russia today, 30 years after ending their occupation of the region. The image is not as negative as some say the evil West tries to make of Russia. Most people remain open minded and seek to inform themselves instead of taking a self-satisfactory shortcut of being pro or anti-Russia.

I understand Russia plays her interests assertively. but it's naive and childish to think Russia is a cute little birdie that can do no wrong.
