Incredible how some advance of Russian troops looks amateurish...
Won't mean a lot thou, since Russia can send more and more but kinda looks Chechen 1St war amateurish movements from some advances.

I dont know, numerically your correct, but really how long can Russia keep going? Either it goes full retard, and starts carpet bombing cities, or as someone else suggested, it declares itself done, with a land corridor to Crimea, and Kiev besieged. But even then it probably cant just sit, while Ukrainians get more ATGM and Manpads, and knock a few vehicles off every night.

Politically we have protests in Russia, death notices will start arriving soon, cargo ship seized etc.

Either it goes full retard, and starts carpet bombing cities, or as someone else suggested, it declares itself done, with a land corridor to Crimea, and Kiev besieged. I also wonder, if the high command would keep following his orders if he went full retard and ordered indiscriminate bombing or artillery strikes. From what we've seen so far, the impression is that Russian forces are rather inefficient - and I bet Putin would politically not survive a military defeat by Ukraine.

I doubt it, though Xi is living in his own world as well. Russian nukes alone will hamper any ideas of seizing Russian territory.
Furthermore, international trade is vital for China's development, otherwise CCP looses legitimation. And trade is doomed, if China would try to annex parts of Russia. After all they would present themselves as the aggressor the US claims they are. It would be shooting themselves in the foot.

But Ukraine might indeed be Putin's last gamble.

Putin is running out of time and support.

That's for sure. He actually might deceived himself in terms of the power of his armed forces. I can't see Russia bogged down in a long conflict in Ukraine. It's not exactly defence of the motherland and those higher up know that. I wouldn't bet against anyone suggesting a coup in Russia.

The biggest problem will be Crimea. No potential successor of Putin can just return Crimea and get away with it. This might be a strain for future relations, even when Putin's gone.
