Waiting for the main attack, still haven´t seen Ukr Challenger 2, Cv90, Marder....they are waiting for the best place and moment. The Ukr army staff is being the king of field strategy
The Czech president says this is not the main attack, just 'shaping'. Hopefully they plan to use the CR2 against russian tanks.

IDK, what Merkava can do in Ukraine. Have those tanks ever fought anything than bunch of dudes with ak47 and flip-flops?

I'm only guessing, but I hope its UK and France.
Unlikely, they have their own tank industry. I simply don’t see the rationale for them or Germany. I’m guessing - one of the countries, which donated their tanks to Ukraine wanting a quick solution for their armor. Netherlands, Finland, Czechs…

Netherlands definitely not, the army has indicated a desire to bring back tanks, but seeing the level of integration into the German army they'll be Leopards and no political decision has been made. These Merkavas are also too outdated imo and the numbers too great.

Gifting them to Ukraine could be possible, but there's already the programs for the Leopard 1s and T-72s so I doubt there's budget for another tank type.

My guess is these tanks replacing a middle or eastern European's nations legacy Soviet fleet, likely with at least partial western European funding. Israel allowing these tanks to be sent to Ukraine goes directly against Israel's policy throughout the war.

Yep. Baltic countries are also a possibility.

Depend show much is being paid, but seeing their known investments into their own forces this might be out of their league.

Romania and/or Bulgaria perhaps?

Merkavas are specifically designed for Israeli needs. Probably not the optimum tank for the Ukrainian plains

Merkava is a heavy tank, same class as Challenger 2. Israel tried to buy Chieftains from UK, before building the first Merkava.

I'm still surprised the Jordanian Challenger 1's haven't put in an appearance.

Plenty of time yet.

I still think the Merkava will end up in Ukraine.

Imo the idea of the one trick pony Merkava is based on prejudice. Repeat the same thing often enough and it becomes the mainstream "truth".

It has the image of being a defensive tank mainly made for (sub)urban fighting, but in reality it also has to be able to go into Lebanon or Jordan which already throws out the notion of a purely defensive design doctrine.
