Politics Riots in Gaza and Israel

You guys wasted $6..4 trillion on failed military adventures in the Middle East without achieving tangible results and have by far the highest military spending per capita. All this while civilian infrastructure in the US show huge deficiencies (Texas power crisis, Flint water crisis, etc) and societal tensions are reaching a boiling point.

So get down off your high horse.
$6.4 trillion? Worth every kroner for these smiles. & the laughter from my kids playing with a hot meal in their bellies was just a bonus. Maybe one day they will have a better life.

Most of that 6.4Tn was spent, mostly in USA, but a bit in G20 countries, and probably the odd BN in Iraq and afghanistan, with the locals.

Even if USA didnt go to war anywhere, they probably would have spent most of that.

And I'd imagine per capita spend on water, and electricity grid is still higher in USA than, say er Iran.

I know it sounds like a lot of money, but its honestly pocket-change, spread over 20 years.

When toilet seats cost $5000 and the spanner to fit them is $15,000 thats where the real money is going - not really, but its how USA hides its stealthhypersonic 'youcallwecome' aircraft. One day you may see one. Not sure if that makes you lucky......
Exactly. Personally, I might spend that money differently, but it didn't just disappear into a rat hole. It made lots of people and lots of companies rich/richer. They hired more people, made more products, bought more goods to support it all and in the end payed more taxes.

At the point when the US managed to finally catch him in Pakistan, Osama Bin Laden was nothing more than a washed-up figurehead who mostly lived out his days by nostalgically watching himself on television. If you think that spending all that amount of money to get a guy who basically managed to lure the Yankees into Middle Eastern quack mires - at the expense of checking Chinese economic expansion at its infancy - then no wonder you guys are notoriously bad at strategy.

All this while income inequality in the US is reaching record levels.

The Palestinians in Gaza are dependent on donations because they have been put in the largest open-prison by the Israeli occupation force.

Doesn't matter, washed up or not - he deserved several dozen 5.56 rounds in the face.

It made the military-industrial complex richer at the expense of the American middle-class. $6.4 trillion down the drain because of the likes of Dick Cheney and the rest of the neo-con club.

Why? Because their lands have been forcefully taken from them, and the Israelis continue to aggressively build settlements on their lands. There will be no peace until justice is served.

You should know better with all the experience you guys have with the Irish independence struggle.
Ireland often comes to mind, but the overall level of violence was lower, especially after the partition, and after 40 years or so of fairly pathetic terrorism both sides realised they'de better get on with it, the old warhorses died, and their kids wanted peace. So they negotiated and found a settlement.

The palestinians already have some control of their areas - what exactly do they want? Seriously if its for Israel to stop existing its not going to happen, are the palestinians intending to wait the Israelis out? for centuries if needed? I assume they dont want joint nationstate with Israel?

What do you define justice as?

Dick Cheney was well.... a Dick. And so is his daughter. Like I said, I personally would have done things differently, but no one asked me. The US MAKES money. It will make more. Several trillion over a couple of decades is just a blip. You need to wrap your head around that.

Also, one of the reasons Donald Trump was elected was because of that.

And get back to promoting a guy who killed 30,000 of your own people ?

I won't call it an election................

Good for you to finally admit they are criminals:rolleyes:

Also proved that there is nowhere to hide - took them a while to find Saddam hiding in a hole, but they eventually did

We also got to see a nice stealth chopper as well - now you see what some of the money was spent on ;)

Checking the Arafat airstrip in Gaza to see if it's still usable for med flights to Cairo or if the terminal is usable for a medical facility. Getting permits for the wounded Gazan civilians to cross the border into Israel for medical treatment is sketchy. & don't worry, learned to check the wounded for explosives before loading on our med flight aircraft. Real clusterfuck today. Nice job Hamas/Iran. S**theads, take care of your people.

The Palestinians do not control anything of worthy. Ideally, a two-state solution would solve this whole mess.

The Arab Peace Initiative looks to me like a reasonable framework to work towards co-existence.

The Land for Peace 1995 Oslo Peace Accords between Palestinian & Israeli leaders negotiated for Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza & other key areas, which happened in 2005 under Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. An Islamist political group called Hamas won elections & took control of Gaza in 2006. Since then, Hamas has occupied the strip, which has become a site for protests, bombings, land assaults & other acts of violence. Israel & the United States, as well as several other countries, consider Hamas a terrorist organization. Israel gave Gaza back to the Palestinians & ended occupation, a year later the Palestinians elect Hamas & start lobbing missiles into Israel......again & again. A 2 State solution? Hamas=Iran & have licked all the red off the sucker of human kindness & this time the whole world knows it. Even a nice sincere offer from Iran to let us bring a few wounded Palestinians to Tehran for treatment would be appreciated at this point.

It's sad when the biggest take away from all this from the US saying Israel has the right to defend herself......well, duh. At least the US publicly admitted that Iran is the destabilizing player in the region, another well duh. I sincerely hope they don't start spending much money on reconstruction of Gaza, pretty sure they're not finished lobbing missiles @ Israel citizens yet. 3rd party Country humanitarian [non US or Israel] continue to get shot at as we evac the wounded Gazans & Hamas, yep, it's as crazy as it sounds. We have a big target on our equipment I guess. Who shoots at the firemen when your house is burning down? & Abbas wants all the humanitarian money to go thru the PLA, haha, another big mistake.

Blinken assured the money to rebuild Gaza will not be used by Hamas.

Naive child.
Just like the UN and MSM getting it's numbers on civilian casualties by quoting the Gaza Health Ministry. Hamas threw every political opponent off of rooftops or beat them out of Gaza when they took power, but I'm sure they left all civil administration departments alone to be perfectly impartial ?
