2/1 Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment on Exercise Black Bayonet, October 2023
The scenario-based exercise threw 200 of New Zealand soldiers into tactical stability and security phases set in a fictional island nation.
Officers and soldiers from 5/7 Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment, spent three days focusing on live firing weapons training and development.
The main focus was on building confidence and advancing skillset with the Modular Assault Rifle System – Light (MARS-L), and conducting weapons qualifications for the MARS-L, Glock G17 pistol and the Light Support Weapon (LSW) machine gun.
Around 100 of New Zealand Army personnel have taken part in Exercise JPMRC in Hawaii, led by his US partner 25th Infantry Division.
The Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Centre (JPMRC) is a regional combat training centre that tests large-scale combat capabilities in live, virtual and constructed environments.
The bulk of New Zealand deployment was made up by 163 Battery of 16 Field Regiment, with logistics, communications, health and joint enablers also contributing.
