Mil News Current Iran/Iraq/US Tensions and Actions Unfolding

Yeah Ivan makes a fair point. After all and I thought it was a consensus amongst Americans, no more ME wars are necessary and the US don’t need to do the dirty job for KSA.

Let them bomb each others?
Well, yes, but the Saoudi have no balls except for "easy" wins they manage to lose anyway
They have their ass handed by kat chewing illiterate goat herders, how will they manage against people better experienced and equiped ?

They have a lot of advanced weapons but they don't seem capable of defending themselves. Maybe they should invest in a mercenary army.

If the Saudis had any balls they would have launched an all out strike on Iran within 24 hours. They ain't no Israel.

Difference between Israel and Saudi, aside from the useless chain of command? Saudi has to pay for their military equipment and losses. Easy to go to war with Americas checkbook and arsenal.

This woman posted some photos of the attack:
Take a look at Josie Ensor (@Josiensor): https://twitter.com/Josiensor?s=09

These sorts of strikes simply disrupt these installations for a short time. It takes a sustained air campaign to put them out of action for good. The Iranians want to start a war so badly, so the world can lift sanctions in the quest for peace. The sanctions are biting them far worse than any retaliatory air strikes ever could. Keep the pressure on!

The Israelis are pretty darned good at reaching out at touching enemies. The Saudis....not so much.

bru, the FMS to israel alone is triple most countries entire military budget. They would have to make an effort to suck with that much funds

I’m not entirely sure where you are going with all this, not to mention having an idea about what you are talking about.

I don't want this to sound cynical, but I would suggest, that the if the US didn't provide FMS (Which I understand has to be mostly spent in the US) then I would expect the US to be spending more money and its own blood in the ME. One reason Israel is 'skilled' in the art of war, is that virtually all its neighbours hate its guts, and have threatened/promised/predicted to destroy it. And Israel has thus had to learn and maintain the skills to combat their adversaries. Also if Israel is awash with FMS cash, why are they still using 1950's centurion tanks for some purposes, and M113? I don't believe Saudi perceives such an existential threat. Also someone mentioned a mercenary army for Saudi, I;m not an expert, but isn't much of its army'hired help'? Saudi's don't sweep their own streets, why would they dig in themselves?

No here did I mention Israel being the largest FMS recipient? I just said with the money and help the US is pump priming on the IDF, they will truly be worlds apart from their neighbors. I didnt say the IDF sucked, it's just that when someone compared it to the Saudis lack of balls to attack, I just simply mentioned that there are different factors at hand. Would the IDF be as aggressive, say if it has to pay for all those munitions and have to wait like the others for stocks? Would it be more aggressive in gambling its assets if it doesnt have the US support.

Looking back to jobs like Entebbe, and some of the airstrikes, such as on the Iranian nuclear site, I would say its more need, and they develop the skills. Of course in the six day war etc the US was shipping in Ammo, providing int, and probably replacement aircraft or parts. That's what Allies do.

I don't think Israel has a policy of attacking targets because it will get free replacements from Uncle Sam.

And Israel since the 50's has had the best forces it can manage, 50/60/70 was mirage/kfir, and now it has f16/f15/f35. Its possible even without FMS Israel would make the sacrifices to acquire such aircraft. FMS makes it easier, and ensures they buy american.

And i. not sure what your trying to say, War is not chess, both sides dont start with the same pieces. You start with as many pieces as you could afford and the ones you chose.....

Saudi has relied upon the West's need for Oil, for its defense. What the response to this recent attack shows, is that the West is weaning itself of the black stuff. Its not cured yet, but its responding well to treatment. Come back in 10 years and Elon will be selling Air defence to Saudi, because the mature economies will be electric powered, thus Saudi is just another customer/supplier.

Could you update me on the final findings, as I'm too busy to read the press?
The first information was that it was a drone attack, then somebody concluded it was a missile attack due to the inability of suicidal drones to carry out such long-range and precise attacks. Even some corpses of missiles have been found and finally we got another theory about drones. It's pretty confusing.

Apparently more of a missile attacks and there are evidences of an Iranian involvement. Why, who and how are really complicated to figure out. More chestbeating from the Iranians as of late.

To be honest yeah, I’m not seeing either country bomb the crap out of each others over it. It’s just ME dangerous gamble.

Sorry I’m just as much confused as you are about the situation anyway.

Apart from the command, officers and kit (which is not a small factor of the equation).

Israel is a world apart from arab armies in "grunt" performance under fire, because the different culture, education, way of thinking and seeing life of average soldier. They can handle better the stress, be ready to take leadership/follower roles , to take initiative, and to be creative and innovative. They are a product of a society. Certain things come to them as a second nature, they dont need to learn how to do it because they have been living that way since the day they were born. Freedom, Liberty of choice, balancing pros and cons, decission making, Teamwork, Team sports, etc...

On the other hand, if you come from a very rigid/tribal/teologic society, in which innovation, initiative, raising to take a leadership roles, is not only seen as a bad thing but is actively discouraged or even punished. Then you have an absolute different response of the individuals when it comes to handle combat stress and to keep unit cohesion, when unit leader gets WIA/KIA, or to get quick out of the blue solutions to live or dead situations.
If you never had to decide, if you were always directed, if you never experienced failure because poor decisión making, etc... you feel lost the moment you dont have an officer 3m away telling you what to do.

This gap wasnt that wide in a shieldwall with your command relatively safe behind your line, seeing your performance, being able to react to battle Flow, to correct redirect you from a hundred meters away. Individual mental capacities of the average grunt, leadership capabilities, etc... where not such a big advantage to brute forcé and numbers.
But today…. you cant have a general in every foxhole to make sure that average "Abdul" is doing what it should and to correct the flaws inherent to the way he was raised. War today is a very different story from what it used to be in the medieval era.

Just some thoughts I had while reading your latest posts guys.
Sorry for the OT
