Disturbing. Unless there were other escalations being taken by Iran, the thought of starting a war over a stupid drone is very idiotic. The anti-Trump media is going to have a field day with this one. Already there are news articles at 4 AM MountAin Time on Friday which are running the headlines saying "Trump changed mind"... or to that effect.

According to the Orange Man himself, he'd ordered the retaliatory air strike off because of military reports expecting up to 150 casualties in Iran.

Probably not going to be given credit for so wise a decision, is he.

The fact is, the American version of events is way more plausible. That drone didn't have to enter Iran's airspace in order to complete its mission. And you don't risk a valuable asset just to prove a point, much like a doctor doesn't start treating you with the highest dose of a drug.

Had it truly ended up in Iran's airspace, it might've been a navigational mistake.
