There was talk of the Army dropping the 7.62 FN LMG and the 7.62mm DMR rifles in Rifle Platoons/Sections. Is this still going ahead as the DMR's don't seem to be seen around much now but the guns still seem to be about?

Haven't heard anything, there is a new lot of weapons coming out in the next couple of years, so they may announce something sooner or later.

These ships are designated as Air Warfare Destroyers, but they are multi-role. Though they weren't designed to be particularly quiet, these ships are fully equipped for ASW. It's tough to miss the fittings for the towed Array Sonar in this shot, and they also have bow mounted sonar and carry MH-60R helicopters.
All three of them are scheduled to get the AEGIS Baseline 9 upgrade in a couple of years as well as SM-6 and Tomahawk missiles. After the Baseline 9 upgrade and getting their SM-6s they will be capable of simultaneously prosecuting every level of endo-atmospheric air defense including terminal BMD.

Introduced in 2011, this M777 is a significant advance in Australian Army’s capabilities as the gun has a much higher level of digital connectivity allowing more rapid, safe and accurate application of effects across the battlespace. The M777 can link with Australian and coalition networks providing accurate and timely responses as required to support ground forces in all weather conditions, day or night.
The M777 provides direct support to combat troops through offensive and defensive fires with conventional and precision-guided projectiles. It can also employ illuminating and smoke projectiles.
