Extremely good lesson as to why it was NOT a good idea to pick a new Supreme Court justice just because of gender and race....... There might be better factores to weigh..

Of course, I'd expect nothing less from a JaBiden pick than total fuckwittery.

But representation! And diversity!

Also it was her time!

And such.

This week, Todd Stephenson sounded the alarm on the proposed new competence standards for nurses that tell nurses to have the ‘correct’ views on the Treaty of Waitangi and to make assumptions about patients’ needs based on their ethnicity.

Todd was contacted by a number of nurses who were bewildered by the standards. They are concerned that these changes will distract from individual patient needs and cultural training will take up time they could be improving their nursing skills. All of this will make it harder to attract and retain nurses.
The new 'pou' (pillars) of competency for nurses include requirements to use te reo and incorporate tikanga into practice and to describe the effects of colonisation and impacts on cultural and spiritual health – along with myriad other requirements.

Todd was on The Platform earlier in the week, expressing his concern and setting out what ACT is doing about it. On Monday, he wrote to the Minister of Health asking that he assess the impact of the proposed competencies and whether they align with the government's 'need, not race' directive.

In fact, during the election campaign, ACT proposed giving the Health Minister power to override decisions of regulatory authorities like the Nursing Council if the Minister believed those decisions went beyond what is necessary to protect public health and safety.
ACT continues to work hard both inside and outside Parliament to stand up for your values.

This week our MPs are back in Parliament again for what looks to be a busy week as we near the end of the year.

A friendly reminder, if you haven't yet had a chance to make a submission on the Treaty Principles Bill, please do so here.

That's it for this week! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Son got banned from Fbook for typing Shoe Goo, an adhesive made in USA .. it's racist. It has been said commonsense was dead, the generation lacking thereof has passed that on to AI. One would presume Fbook would use the best available AI to suck up all your data.
