According to them "she caught fire", which means she was minding her own business when suddenly she spontaneously combusted.

However, at the moment the video was being taken, I doubt anything could have been done to save her.

Yeah, but it's also simply that the majority of people either freeze or flee. Without training and experience they're more likely to add to the crisis rather than they are to addressing it. And the average urbanite has just about zero self-reliance capability never mind putting out a burning person and saving their life in the most stressful situation they've likely ever been in.

With respect it's not about any of those things, it's about humanity and the lack thereof (although most would deny that lack). It's about that one time in your life when you need to stand up and DO something. Not to tackle the areshole but to help someone that is dying in front of your eyes.

I have seen this apathy creep in and amplify over the generations. Go along to get along can be the mantra for people's lives but when the one instant where you can make a difference to whether another human survives or dies happens and they just "want to get along". I've spent my life in service and it is just anathema to me (and not because of my training). I mourn for society I truly do
