The incident(s) impacting the Nord Stream pipelines presents some interesting and disturbing potentialities.

First concern is the newly inaugurated Norwegian-Polish pipeline. But that's not all; the liquefied gas terminals are rather vulnerable as well, but in either of those eventualities Russia would need to come out of the shadows in order to sabotage them.

The second concern is what other Easter eggs did Russia leave during the run up to this conflict? They had plenty of time to plan for contingencies. Regarding the Nord Stream explosions, it strains credulity that this was a technical issue, so who had the motive, and more importantly the capability to carry out such an undertaking? There are reports that there was no suspicious activity in the area prior to the incident, but this could have been facilitated weeks ago, with the Russians assuming that it would take time to trace responsibility back to them.

The important thing now is to determine, as quickly as possible, within a reasonable doubt, who the actor is, and return the favor in a commensurate manner that directly impacts the vital interests of that actor.

Assuming this was an attack, this is hybrid war on steroids, but it is still an act of war. It impacts vital security, economic and environmental concerns for multiple NATO & EU members. To not respond, is to invite a future where Europe operates under a cloud of blackmail. It also lays bare the desperation of the clique in Moscow. It should demonstrate that they have abandoned any pretense of a future free and fair partnership with Western Europe. This needs to be clearly understood by the West.
why would russia attack one of their own source of revenues from Europe? the US did it. Biden has said as much, a few times. "there will be no nord stream pipeline"

Are you still a civil defense instructor, teaching first aid and such?
How do you see this conflict ending?

Many things are worth dying for but i think this ain't it (my opinion of course if it needs saying), so stay safe and healthy.
Yes, I'm a chemical service instructor. In addition to the usual disciplines, I had to study other means of destruction - explosive objects, booby traps and other rubbish. We actively worked with schoolchildren, from which informal groups of non-military sanitary defense are being created.

The outcome of the conflict is unclear to me. Now there are really a lot of highly motivated people in the military registration and enlistment offices, even more are waiting to be sent to the front. Our team is at a high level of combat readiness. My guys are already frankly bored, everyone is waiting for a nuclear exterminantus with professional humor. But, of course, these are jokes. Morality is high.

Quickly from the top of my head.

Strategic maneuvering.
1. Russia has previously stated that terror attacks against nordstream pipes are attacks against Russia.
Now peskov is calling for security council sit down. Most likely they will have brilliant ideas on how to proceed.
The explosions are in sensitive shipping routes. If something they can hinder shipping with their navy in effort to protect their pipeline.
This is huge national security risk for my country that is practically an island reliant on shipping for import and export.

2. Excellent target for the reason you just stated. Some people will quickly blame the USA, create division in the west.

3. The source of revenue was already gone for the rest of Putin's natural life even if the war ended tomorrow. Nothing to lose.

4. Rease tensions and stakes. edit. for the west if they keep arming Ukraine

its a false flag by Russia. I dont think so. there are as many reason for them not to do such an act. We will probably never know.... but it dovetails into some of the 'great reset' objectives.

such as?

but it dovetails into some of the 'great reset' objectives.
i understand now.
Unironic question, is supplying LNG from the USA to Europe part of those objectives? I mean using natural gas hasn't stopped and won't stop in large parts of Europe until other methods pick up the slack and that will take time.
