Putin reminds that war crimes against pows is a government policy. Volunteers serving in Ukrainian army to be not treated according to Geneva convention and Ukrainian soldiers fighting against Russia in kursk to be treated as terrorists.

Putin visits Kursk region for first time since Ukraine attacked it

People who are in the Kursk region, who commit crimes against civilians here, who oppose our armed forces, law enforcement agencies and special services, ... are the people we should certainly treat as terrorists," Putin said, adding that Russia does not intend to extend the Geneva Conventions to foreigners fighting on Ukraine's side.

MOSCOW, March 12 (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin has visited the western Russian region of Kursk for the first time since Ukrainian forces seized some territory in the region.
Appearing on Russian state television dressed in a pixilated military uniform, Putin visited a control centre in Kursk region used by Russian troops.

Someone´s not toning it down....
Putin's actions are interesting. He's trying to show that he doesn't need this deal. But he does. He attacked a smaller country and lost, while taking maybe 1 million casualties. The Russian oligarchs took a pounding because of this war. They are being patient, but I can't believe they are very happy with him. Putin is damaged goods.

I try to weigh, after this war is it better if a damaged Putin is running Russia or someone else? I can guarantee "someone else" will not be warm and fuzzy. I'm thinking a damaged Putin might be better.

Anyway, he's playing it tough, but he needs this deal badly.

He has only invent things to look like he won, Russians are extremely gullible.

He certainly can invent things - and he will. But several hundred thousand people know that their son, husband, father, brother never came back.

The oligarchs can be as mad as they want. Nothing will happen to Putin until the siloviki turn against him. Putin stays in power by playing both against each other. He's toast once both turn against him.

But Putin's reaction to the peace deal will be very interesting, b/c I suspect some siloviki are upset he's not being more ruthless in Ukraine.
Putin has been half-assing the war in an attempt to shield the middle class of the country from any ramifications of it...... even jailing militant influencers like Strelkov/Girkin.
It's a high-wire act as they say.

The oligarch's siloviki, (Wagner), did stage a coup and made it halfway to Moscow. Girkin also supported the war, but not the way it was being prosecuted. His incessant criticism of the establishment finally landed him a jail cell. I figured he'd get a knock on the door a bit sooner, actually.

I think Russia showed us the best that they could muster, which is to say less than expected.

I agree that Putin protected the middle and upper classes, especially the Muscovites and Saint Petersburg, essentially making it someone else's war.

But have no doubt, Putin is damaged. He launched a disastrous war which he could not win on his own border. He still exists because he is a skilled a ruthless politician.

High-wire act, for sure.

Another hot night in Russia.

He is in power as long as they fear him. And this is why he can't just step down.

There is no other force like wagner was, so the coup would have to happen with support of the military. Or his internal security forces...

So he could be in power next 10-15 years.

My take on Russia's reaction to the proposal is that they will stall by pretending to look at the proposals, then say no.

Noone accepts compromise if they have nothing to lose or to fear.

But we'll see

10-15 years?!? Naaaahhh...come on...i bet, someone will point out that he needs to step down and make way for an election once this is over, right? RIGHT??! 🙃

Putin is 72. Is don´t think eh will stay much longer but not because they see him as a "failure". I've said it before; you watch interviews of foreign channels and youtubers and you realize that he still has a lot of popularity. Regardless of the final outcome of this war, the Russians will think they were superior. That's what happens when you dominate communications with propaganda.

An episode of combat work of the Ukrainian IRIS-T SLM air defense system. The IRIS-T SLM medium-range air defense system has been produced in Germany since 2014. The video shows the interception of a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile using the IRIS-T SLM air defense system. The video was filmed in Ukraine, the specific location of the shooting is not reported.

Rare footage of Russian drones "Forpost-RU" and "Orion" working together in Ukraine. Technical information about them is in the links to the video in the comments to the video. The video was filmed near the village of Grunovka, Sumy region of Ukraine, on the border with the Kursk region of Russia. In the first part of the video, the drone "Forpost-RU" with the help of a guided bomb KAB-20S destroys a pontoon crossing over the Psel River. Later, a Ukrainian truck "MAN" appears in this area, carrying a tank on a lowboy. The Russian drone "Orion" attacks it with the help of an "X-UAV" missile. Judging by the video, both drones worked accurately on the targets.
