Regarding casualties:
Mediazona have adopted a new method for their counting Russian losses. Previously, they'd only counted dead Russians who could be identified by name (e.g. from obituaries or mentions by relatives in the social media), but they now include registered inheritances as well. The journalists were able to verify this method when the names of Wagner mercenaries killed in the Battle of Bachmut were leaked to the press. Mediazona estimated 16,000 men to have died, the real number was 17,000. In other words, the method seems to be fairly accurate.
According to their updated count, the Russians would have suffered at least 120,000 men killed in action (margin of error 106,000-140,000). This figure does not include men from the "People's Republics" of Luhansk and Donetsk. The dynamics of the events are also remarkable: In the last quarter of 2023, Meduza counted around 120 casualties per day; in the first half of 2024, the figure was already 250 per day. (

It must be assumed that for every man killed, there are 2+ wounded, captured or missing.
Russia's demographic crisis will be exacerbated by this war.
Regarding what happened in Kyiv yesterday:
Reisner interprets the intensified attacks on civilian infrastructure as an attempt to trigger a new wave of refugees and cause political chaos in Europe. (

Source) This is precisely the kind of strategy for which the ICC seeks to arrest Shoigu and others. A sufficient power supply being vital for survival in this day and age, destroying it deliberately and beyond military necessity constitutes an act of attempted genocide under international law.
