Eastern European countries won't get help at the expense of our taxpayers" - Republican congressman interviewed by Polish TVN24.

News
We should just tell em if they won't stand behind us we'll walk out on their military contracts.

Even out of Nato, the US would still have all those bilateral agreements with European countries, right?

1) NATO is a treaty, not a binding legal contract like a military sale is. For example even Article 5 doesn't obligate anyone to do everything they can;
2) The rest of NATO doesn't have the industrial capacity to dump the US defense contractors unless like Germany you're prepared to put the safety of your citizens on hold for four years because you didn’t like the outcome of the elections in a foreign democracy.

Funny how the rest of NATO is concerned about the US not adhering to Article 5 when most of them have been wiping their ass with Article 3 for decades and crying about it when Trump brought it up (and Biden has continued, just mainly behind closed doors).

Oh but could you please send troops over because those russians over there are scaring us and despite a decade and a half of plainly obvious warning signs the best we can manage is a token contribution aka speedbump because pur treasury has other priorities. Like everything but defense 😰

I don't disagree. It's apalling really how still It's dragging behind and in 2023 mostly just eastern european countries + US met the quota. Same with Ukraine support, industry still not running. If you follow deeds and not speech, the western Europe is not all that worried.

According to his logic, Bulgaria probably is the most advanced and successful country in the world, because of our metro:

So yeah, average take from our boy Tucker. I lived to see US "right-wing conservatives" admiring images of Lenin.

Well his 2% Nato threshold argument fell over because its the eastern ones spending more than the requirement. So in this case Trump would be a delinquent to paraphrase him. Bulgaria maybe less somewhat but you know they have those fancy train places that Tucker loves.
