A semi-professional yes.

Someone who has been retired from service since the collapse of the USSR being dragged back into action, trained on the Hind and has been drinking ever since?

very interesting. he seems to be the only one that is at least somewhat in touch with reality.
apparently a few weeks ago he also arranged some prisoner exchanges with Ukraine, without the approval or the knowledge of the MOD.
dont know how much he says is true, its more significant that he is very public about all his statements.
he strikes me as someone that has some ulterior motivations....

Becoming President of Russia.

It will be very hard for him "to fall out of a window". I'm sure he has a very effective Praetorian Guard.

I think thats why he stays at the front. Its good 'optics' versus Putin in his bunker, but also he is safer, given the er 'accident' rate for russian leaders. From the very strange place of russian politics, he makes some good points.

Maybe his plan is to become leader, then make some sort of peace, blame Putin, shoot a few people, and go back to making billions on mercs, oil and gas?

There will never be any other plan except that plan.

Possibly, but Putler is a devious - and murderous bastard. I will not be surprised if Priggy has an unfortunate accident in the near future.
