This whole thing started because Israel has been creeping upon Palestinian lands for years now, slowly evicting whole communities from their lands because the Likud-led government likes to placate the Israeli religious right.

The arrogance with you lots operate in impunity was bound to bring tensions at a boiling point eventually.

If I had to identify a single proximate cause - and at the obvious risk of committing a single cause fallacy - this would be most certainly be the fact that PA cancelled the elections in the West Bank, which Hamas hoped would bring it to power there just like it happened in 2006. Everything else: the evictions in Sheikh Jarah in East Jerusalem (which have F*** all to do with gov. policies; those are private lands being returned to their Jewish rightful owners since before the Jordanian occupation in 1949 - all through court rulings), the Ramadan riots (happen every year), Jerusalem Day/Nackbah and some other stuff - all provided to Hamas both convenient excuse and yet another leverage against Israel.

All of this being conflated by various assortment of useful morons, leftist and Islamist bots (following Al-Jazeera, your posts read as a perfect summary of their coverage) into this moronically simplistic narrative, which has F*** all to with reality.

And I barely skimmed the surface. Maybe I will write a more detailed post somewhere during the weekend, but for now it will suffice.

Do yourself a favour and ignore people who argue in bad faith. The guy who pretends to be some liberal proponent of democracy while ejaculating over pictures of Khamenei and Soleimani is not worth your time. Oh, I have no illusions about who he is and what he represents. I was planning to do this for our members regardless of him - I can only guess how confusing this whole mess is from the outside, especially considering the typical quality of the mainstream media when it comes to any mildly controversial and complex issue.

I have no dog in this fight, have just read again and it doesn’t come as a shock that some European countries are asking Israel to use restraint.

It’s cool, restraint is wise and easy to say from the safety of a Brussels office.

yes easy to ask for restraint. The unguided rockets are one thing, the ATGM will not be ignored.

I wish someone would resolve this whole thing!

I'm doubtful firing rockets into Israel will help, nor will it be a good idea other than for rapid promotions inside Hezbollah. Rockets arent going to bring down israel, nor bennie's government - and any replacement gov will go more right wing, I'd expect, due to the rockets.

From here it looks worse, than previous years.

And any ideas to fire anything bigger, would be a really really baaaaaaaddddd idea. - but dont listen to me.

Yes, this year there is most certainly an escalation - as I mentioned due to the confluence of those factors: the escalation in Hamas-PA ongoing civil war, the Sheikh Jarah evictions, the Jerusalem Day/Nackba and Ramadan - all happening more or less simultaneously, whilst Hamas deliberately trying to escalate the East Jerusalem situation to its own ends.
I don't know how serious it will get before we go back to "normal". I'm reading various assessments by the local expert. The carefully optimistic prognosis is that the situation will calm down in a few days. Ramadan is over in couple of days, the gov. judiciously asked the Supreme Court to suspend the evictions case (which is being reviewed there right now), whilst we keep trimming Hamas and Islamic Jihad from the top. If this does not start calming down in a few days... well, then we'll see.

Yep, sitting in my apartment’s bomb shelter right now.
My family lives in Askelon, they can actually see the launches. In fact they see so many of them that they can tell by the launch angle where it’s going, center of the country, near Gaza... A few minutes ago was talking to my niece and she actually warned me in real time she’s seeing some going to center. So, I have my own warning system, LOL.

It's not the IRGC logo, but a parody on it. I'm sure the Sepah wouldn't approve of it.

The Palestinians have been forcefully evicted from their homes by pro-settler policies of the Israeli government for a while now, so not a surprise that the chickens have come home to roost.

As the Israeli society is getting more extremer with their Apartheid policy, a solution to the conflict remains out of sight.

We do not know the calculations of organizations like Hamas or PIJ - or their patron (Iran) - in this whole ordeal. It could be anything ranging from Hamas boosting its local/regional popularity to Iran ordering/approving these strikes for reasons of retribution or just keeping the Israelis off-balance/protracted with local conflicts while it strengthens its positions elsewhere.

For all these sentiments at play and civilians being in the cross hairs of these riots and rocket attacks, there is a huge strategic game going on behind the scenes between all kinds of regional actors.

The nature of the rocket attacks are new as well; seems like Hamas is trying to assess Israeli defences with bigger barrages of rockets in order to measure saturation. Iran is probably paying attention.
