Indian Navy’s stealth frigate INS Talwar arrived at Simon’s Town, South Africa on 06 Oct for the trilateral maritime exercise IBSAMAR VIII with Brazilian Navy & South African Navy (SAN).

On completing an eventful port visit at Mombasa, INS Talwar undertook a Maritime Partnership Exercise at sea with Kenyan Navy Ship Shujaa as also a Joint EEZ Surveillance off the Kenyan coast.

First Training Squadron ships Indian Navy ships Tir, Shardul and Indian Coast Guard ship Veera entered Bandar Abbas port for Long Range Training Deployment on 30 Sep 2024. The ships were received ceremonially by IRI Navy's First Naval District and the Naval Attache from E/I

Historic bilateral maritime engagement between Indian Navy & Italian Navy, from 01 - 06 Oct. Featured maiden exercise by Carrier Strike Groups (CSG) from both navies. Sea phase, on 05-06 Oct, was led by the two carriers INS Vikramaditya & ITS Cavour along with INS Visakhapatnam & ITS Alpino. Intense operations with integral fighter aircraft & helos, for combined Large Force Engagements, Air Combat Missions, Helo Ops & Search And Rescue missions as also coordinated weapon firings & joint manoeuvres, to underscore joint operations, Command & Control capabilities and enhance interoperability. A key facet of the landmark exercise was the participation of IAF, that undertook manoeuvres with Italian CSG aircraft including Large Force Engagements & Combat Missions.

28th Edition of Maritime Exercise Malabar 2024, being hosted by India, from 08 - 18 Oct 24, Visakhapatnam. Destroyers, Frigates, Long Range MR Aircraft, Submarines, Helicopters, along with Special Forces from India, Australia, Japan & United States will participate in the Multilateral Maritime Exercise.

The Tough Tusker - INS Kochi, the second indigenous P15A class destroyer celebrates her 9th anniversary. The ship has been at the forefront of multifaceted Naval Operations of The Sword Arm.

The carriers are, front to back, Langley (CV-1), Saratoga (CV-3) and Lexington (CV-2).
The two battleships beyond Lexington are the New York (BB-34) with Texas (BB-35) behind. The nearest battleship, straight up from the Langley is Pennsylvania (BB-38). The BB immediately beyond and to the left of Pennsylvania (BB-38) is California (BB-44).
The remaining battleships include two New Mexico's: Mississippi (BB-41) and Idaho (BB-42) , but even this higher rez shot is not clear enough to tell which is which. Also are the rest of the "Big Five" and what is probably one of the Nevada's, but that is not certain. The photo is not clear enough for positive identifications.

John Ericsson-class monitor HSwMS John Ericsson and steam corvette Orädd in 1866

Orädd was wrecked on 3 December 1866 off Dungengess lighthouse in the English Channel , on her way from France to Sweden. 12 of the crew were lost.

USN:
Benson class destroyer USS Barton (DD-599) in Boston Harbor, 29 May 1942, the day she was commissioned.

Barton had a short lifespan of about 6 months. She was torpedoed by Japanese destroyers during the naval battle of Guadalcanal on Friday, November 13th 1942. 13 officers and 151 of her crew were lost. Forty-two survivors were rescued

Name ship of her battleship class, USS Iowa (BB-61) fitting out. Workmen installing 16"/50 guns in her forward turrets, at the New York Navy Yard, circa fall 1942. Other men are engaged in laying deck planks.

USS Iowa (BB-61), shown during her commissioning ceremony, February 22nd, 1943. She would depart on her shakedown cruise two days later.
