USN:
Ex-battleship Kearsarge (AB-1) is moored next to the future USS Alabama (BB-60) for lifting the 16" gun barrels into place. Main and secondary gun turrets are being fabricated and the smoke indicates that some of the boilers have been lit off, 1942.
Essex-class aircraft carrier USS Franklin (CV-13) at the Norfolk Navy Yard, Virginia (USA), on 4 May 1944. Note the 40 mm quadruple mount originally fitted above the stern.
Cleveland class light cruiser USS Santa Fe (CL-60) at sea during operations off of the Philippines on December 12, 1944. In the background, North Carolina class battleship USS Washington (BB-56) can be seen steaming alongside a fleet oiler.
