Mil News Current Iran/Iraq/US Tensions and Actions Unfolding

Apparently those Chinooks previously seen flying into the embassy were flying in Army personnel not Marines. Here's an interesting pic of a V-22 used to fly Marines in last night from Kuwait. Also a battalion from the Ready Brigade of the 82nd Airborne flew in last night from the US.

What are the "real" numbers?

That’s the issue. Maybe the Iranians authorities know better. We don’t. If you’ve seen the rare footages that transpired and escaped the censor. It was quite brutal.

same as there were no Russian contractors killed in Syria

Well...Mercs and the Wagner thing were pretty real. I don’t want to drag Mother Russia into this yet but regarding the Supreme Leader in Iran, he can consider himself lucky his head isn’t yet on a stick parading in the streets of Teheran.

A govt/dictatorship/tyranny butchering its own people often ends up like that especially in the SandBox...

funny how it was Ruskia and Iran who came out and criticised the Americans for the airstrikes

Iran is going to get trod on at some stage - it will be interesting to see how much Ruski support they have then

Putin is a lot of things but not a dumbass. He has his own interest to play the chess game in the region while the last US troops more or less (and rightly so) withdraw.

As they say: « if you want the responsibility for this mess, you can have it. »

There's no glory in the ME, I have a 1960's British Army review, talks about the recent troubles in Iraq.

Seriously they hate each other more than they hate the man.

Write some rules, no nukes/WMD, and leave em to it.

Even if that’s not “a thousand” killed, I’ve seen a couple videos that have made their way on some social media’s and they were quite heavily repressed.

I have seen much more videos on social networks from the US where cops killed unarmed people with multiple point-blank shots. Nowadays you can find any sort of brutal video on social network.

Iranian government prevents civil unrests in very balanced and effective manner this time. They allowed protest and even quite violent one, like burning shops and offices, but any attemps to attack police or security service offices (to seize firearms) were suppressed instantly.

Internet was blocked for some time just because they have not any abilities to control them. Оnly US and China has full control on internet through software/hardware manufacturers, and few countries (Russia, Israel for example) has wide but limited cyber-security capabilties.

After arab spring and other US-supported riots free countries find out methods to counter these "regime-change" attemps. Venesuela, Iran, Hong Kong. Yes sometimes it needed to jail or even kill someone (often random guy that protests for a good reason) or limit media or internet. Still much better then left country to US-supported bloody chaos like Syria or Libya. It is great today these countries find out balance of used power to prevent such things and keep casualties numbers as low as possible.

An air strike has killed Iranian Qods Force commander Qassem Soleimani and another senior Iranian-linked figure in Baghdad, Iraqi state television reported on Thursday.

No one claimed immediately responsibility for the strike, which Iraqi television also said killed Abu Mehdi al-Muhandas, an Iraqi militia commander, near the Iraqi capital’s airport, but the death of Iran’s most revered military leader appeared likely to send tensions soaring between the United States and Iran.

Soleimani, who has long been Iran’s most prominent military figure and is closely linked to the country’s foreign proxy groups, has taken on an enhanced role in Iraq as the country’s Shiite militia groups have gained new clout in recent years.

He’s basically Iran’s number 2.

This means war.

So it would seem to me, on first blush, rather brash to do this at a major airport. Far better to catch him out in the field, where he "shouldn't be"..... Then again what was he doing in Iraq? Was he invited?

In Iraq? Allegedly in charge of the attack on the US Embassy. Good riddance. War? I doubt it. Generally weakness invites aggression. If the Iranians continue to seize oil tankers, foment violence and sponsor terror there are limits to such criminal behavior. I think the West has been incredibly patient with the Iranians as they commit these acts. The MSM media will probably report that Trump has murdered an Iranian tourist.
