Wonder who would join that maritime protection force

I'm sure allies will be queueing up to help. The UK s overplayed her hand on this one I'm afraid . I don't envisage any sort of minor mobilization on the back of a couple of oil tankers .

I'm expecting the usual, France and Germany, however Im not to sure how the Brexit might affect this as it can be use to show that once you are on your own when it comes to interests outside of a NATO mandate.

The UK at least, is sending an additional two surface combatants and a submarine, so there's that.

French will be trying to buy the tanker and the oil:rolleyes:

could be first trip for a carrier as well:)

Really? That'd be interesting.

Bottom line is, as Trump tweeted, the Iranians don't know if they are coming or going. They shot down the US drone in the hopes of a US attack, so they could cry "victim" and have the sanctions lifted and didn't get it. They seized a UK oil tanker hoping to intimidate the UK and got the opposite reaction.

The sanctions are crushing them and there is no end in sight.....

Interesting piece by CDR Salamander on getting a European coalition to defend the Strait of Hormuz.

Well that's the European taskforce out of the window . I guess there's still France but I doubt they ll show much interest .
